960M? Whaaaat? That's going to be expensive, but makes it really cool. Most screen/power for its size, not to mention a Thunderbolt 3 port. Hello, external graphics acceleration.
Wait wait wait...
-960M?
-DDR4 MEMORY?
-6th gen i7?
-For as little as $1200?

And their top of the line model has a 6-cell battery? How does that work? Does it increase laptop size?

I will never buy another Dell XPS laptop after the shambles that is the 9530 range. Hundreds of customers on the forums and they do nothing except send untrained self employed engineers out to swap like for like mainboards with the same problem.

What were Dell thinking with the XPS 12. Two thunderbolt ports and they are both on the tablet part and no usb ports and no SD port of any kind. The keyboard while backlit has no extra battery and no ports.
If the keyboard had a battery as well a couple of usb ports and discrete graphics this would be an alternative to the Surface Book, mind it would also be an alternative to the XPS 13.
Its two USB Type-C and there is an SD card slot.
Yeah, I was surprised to about the pricing, their last gen versions were stupidly expensive, this is now better than the 15" macbook retina in every way, but to correct you, for $1200, you get the i5-6300hq which is still on par with 4th gen i7's (4700hq, 4702hq, 4720hq) plus a 960M for $1200, it's $1400 for the i7 version.
About your question about the increased battery capacity, It's pretty simple, the same was done with the last gen xps 15's. There's a 56wh battery in the cheaper versions, right next to the battery is a physical mechanical hard drive. The higher end versions (ssd only elsewhere on the board) removes the hard drive right next to the battery and simply makes room for a horizontally bigger/longer 84wh battery.
Regardless for the price of $1200, this is about to become an all round worldwide gamers choice laptop/ultrabook....the style, functionality and design, for the price of $1200...nothing beats it. I'm definitely getting one. lol
