I used to play all the old soccer games on the Amiga and Atari ST, Kick Off and Kick Off2, and of course Sensi Soccer... awesome games... I'd love to see another one of this type make it onto the market.
I might just head over to the KS page and see what is in the pipelines
Jesus that video was seriously un-funny... but this is a kickstarter I might actually get on board with. I think nostalgia might be getting the better of me.
I just hope they dont do the micro-transaction thing but I wont hold my breath.
If it goes well perhaps they will release a true spiritual successor to Cannon Fodder, as what I have seen of CF3, it's not the same at all.
Will keep an eye on this, the last sensible soccer (2006?) reboot was pants.
I still play the originals fairly regularly, so not a big loss if this turns out to be poor as well.
about
bloomin'
time!!!!!
Hope it's made based on SWOS model though. It might be great to play against many people all over the world, but I liked the career mode where you could manage and play as any team, buy any player (funds pending) and set yourself goals like the 100% season - winning EVERY game without conceding a goal. I managed it in the second division playing as Barnet and that was not an easy task in only my second season... that particular game.
The art of scoring from just inside the half way line was stunning. Ahh memories.
Going to dig out my A1200 and Cheetah 125+ this weekend me thinks

What a game,, I miss this stuff
If it's top-down and they re-release the Competition Pro 2000 joystick, I might be tempted...
I received a reply to my question about micro-transactions and the answer was, 'We've no plans to offer micro transactions currently.'
Not definitive enough for me, they have left themselves way too much wiggle room in that reply for my liking. I wont be supporting this kickstarter.
I bet the reboot will be rubbish. Great games sometimes deserve to be viewed in a positive light in the past
I'm in. Shoved 100 notes their way so I've got high hopes! My greatest gaming moment was taking Celtic into the European Cup Final and beating AC Milan 2-1 with two goals scored at 86 and 91 minutes
Zipsticks were the best joysticks of course! Last time I visited my parents, I saw the box up in a cupboard. I'll need to see if the joystick is still in there as I'm sure it was sold with my Amiga a few years ago...

Remember laying sensible soccer back in the day and more recently on the 32x at a retro gaming event.
Was funny as it was winner stays on between a growing number of people but a nephew lost every time, on his last crushing defeat grasping defeat from the hands of victory in the dying seconds he stomped off and delivered the ultimate grumpy line ever... ""i'm going playing halo!".
Hopefully this keep the same mechanics which made it so easy to pick up and play.
HEXUS has been sent an update on the Sociable Soccer Kickstarter campaign. It's now at £27,557 pledged of the £300,000 goal. Not quite up to 10%, so it sounds a bit slow to gain traction. Other news is below:
GAME MODES
“Sociable Soccer’s gameplay is getting crisper by the day and we have been busy fleshing out the details of game modes and teams. The game will have many game modes” Jon Hare.
The three main ways of playing the game are Single Player Mode, Classic Local Multiplayer (2 – 8 players) and Online Multiplayer.
The competitions for both single player and local multiplayer feature player and AI teams include the following competitions:- a Friendly match Series, Leagues from England x 4, Spain x 2, Italy x 2, Germany x 2, France, Netherlands & Scotland, plus numerous international club & national team tournaments. There will also be the opportunity to make your own DIY Cups, Leagues and Tournaments for up to 24 teams on one machine.
ONLINE MULTIPLAYER
When a player first load up Sociable Soccer it will ask him for his name, nationality and favourite team, then ask him to create a 3D player avatar in his own likeness and choose a clan to join (clans like “Surfboarders”, “Biology Students” or “Angry Old Men”) By doing this the player join three different online teams instantly. ie England (Nation), Liverpool (Club) and Angry Old Men (Clan). Whenever online the player will be given a selection of instantly available online ladder league matches, not in a lobbying system, but via a match making system based on the teams played for and opponents available. Top players will see their player avatars called up to play for their club or country alongside their real life sporting heroes. Weekly promotion and relegation and special tournaments by invitation only will also feature.
One of my all time favs.
Used to love how fast Asprilla was and Gazza could bend the ball 90 degrees. Shearer could smash the ball in from anywhere. Great fun.
