An EU competition complaint is a lot less likely to happen than in days gone by, when Microsoft first got hit with the naught stick they had a 90% share of *all* internet connected devices (desktops mainly), since then that numbers fallen to %55 of *all* internet connected devices, sure you could argue they still hold a monopoly with regards to desktops but Microsoft could also argue that they don't have one when you take into account desktops, tablets, phones, and consoles.

Personally I couldn't care less. Cortana was one of the first things that I disabled in 10 plus I don't use edge anyway. Talk about removing peoples right to have a choice though!! Microsoft is riding roughshod over everyone where windows 10 is concerned.

I dont use edge or Cortana, Cortana is disabled and Edge is consigned to a locked part of my mind.

I might not go that far but the simple reality is that I like Chrome and google, that is what I use for me default, it is not for MS to tell me that is wrong -sorry but "fulling user experience" is what I want it to be not what MS thinks it should be.

I don't agree about Google, and I never have and never will touch Chrome. I'd rather use Win10, and that's saying something.

But I entirely agree about being dictated to as to what you use. It's a large part of why I'm prepared to use Linux after using Windows since the first half of the '80s. MS have always had a bit of a high-handed attitude to dictating what we do and how we do it, but Win10 takes it just too far for me. It's also why I only dabble with Android, because Google putting on all the Google rubbish I have no interest in at all, and (short of fairly extreme measures) preventing users from even deleting it, offends me. My tablet is like that, and Google .... who's flipping device is it? Mine or yours?

It's coming down, for me, to either using Linux or giving up on any computing/internet access at all. And if it gets much worse, the latter is definitely an option I'd consider.

Not just that but you can still choose your default browser & search engine, this only affects Cortana searches. I imagine they'd also argue that Google Now forces Chrome & Siri forces Safari.

Would rather want a tool that would work on all platforms... big companies can really not get around what the consumers want... or someone else will beat them to it eventually.

Google Now doesn't force you to use chrome, at least on android, as my google now opens up ghostery browser. Now it may be the case on desktop but you could argue that's an optional thing as you have to install chrome.
