A 970, maybe upgrade in a year or two as the 970 will do me for a couple of years.

Brought after christmas to replace the ageing AMD 6950 2GB i had up until then.
No plans to upgrade any time soon, in fact i went overkill on this card to futureproof myself as much as possible. My previous card lasted a full 5 years, i'm hoping to get a good few years out of this one at minimum.

Currently a Nvidia 690 GTX, probably one of the best cards Nvidia ever made this far, but probably going AMD next time.
current graphics is a 750ti
only upgraded to it from an AMD 7770 because it was faster and also very cheap at the time
upgraded to that 7770 from a 4870 because that was also very very cheap at the time
planning on upgrading, the next time theres a GPU competition on this forum
or next year, HBM2 shizzle and all that. whatever is sooner.
onboard radeon 3300 for backup.

8800GTX with a mighty 768MB of RAM since '07! Had to recently use the 'bake method' to revive it - was hilarious when my wife came down in the early hours as I was cooking the card in the oven as per online instructions. She simply asked upon seeing it mounted on some foil & with a weird smell flooding the kitchen, 'what the hell are you doing?'
Either Polaris in the summer for me or build a new rig all for VR next year with ZEN & VEGA.

I am now running a Sapphire Radeon R9 380 4Gb Nitro (older model without the back plate and it replaced an MSI GTX 570 OC PE), this is paired up with an i7 4790K Haswell.
Don't think I wioll be upgrading till at least end of next year now and most likely that will be just graphics as my CPU is real fast, maybe upgrade ram to 16Gb somepoint soon.
