Hmm. Odd decision to push Vega just before Polaris launches... Still won't change my mind. A 480 8g should be price and performance perfect for me at 1080p, maybe even 1440p if I can justify a new monitor...
    Trust

    Laptop : Dell Inspiron 1545 with Ryzen 5500u, 16gb and 256 NVMe, Windows 11.

Not really, they're different markets. Banging the Vega drum is to get people considering the 1070/1080 to hold off buying until the major game releases in the autumn. It might have a small effect on the top end of the mainstream buyers but the trade-off is likely worth it.

If 480 is 290/390 performance or better than 1440P is easily achievable on it as my old 290X doesn't struggle at 1440p with anything.

    Definitely waiting for Vega though
