HP Chromebook 11 G5 has optional touchscreen

Yes, it will be compatible with Android apps when Google rolls out the OS update later in 2016.

With Android apps compatibility, it seems odd that they dropped the Nvidia ARM chip for a Celeron.

Edit: So it was just the 14" version before that had a Tegra, the old 11" was a Samsung chip.

1366 x 768 pixels and probably 16Gb storage. Why oh why do people bother!

    ?

HP must be selling enough of these otherwise they wouldn't bother. If they're selling enough, perhaps they're good enough for enough people - nothing wrong with that.

Remember it's running ChromeOS not Windows, so the "low rent" specs are fine. Not much you can do about the screen resolution, (although lower resolution screens also usually mean better battery life), but the Chromebook models I've seen have USB and/or SD slots so you aren't actually limited to the onboard storage.

My youngest kid has an older HP and she loves the fuss free nature of it, so maybe there's a reason that they sell OK.

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...

    +1

Why does that resolution even exist anymore!
