Re: QOTW: Which keyboard and mouse do you use?

    I have a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 keyboard and a Logitech M570 trackball.

The keyboard is very nice to use without too many dohickies that I don't use. Illuminated and has a nice key action for a membrane keyboard with full n-key rollover. Very easy to disassemble and clean out cat yak it turns out. Works well for games and typing alike.

The M570 is comfortable enough. I can't use normal mice these days (my wrist just locks up in a few minutes) after around 20 years of trackball use. I still prefer the shape of the much older TrackMan Marble+ design as it was a lot flatter. The biggest negative for these is they seem to last about 10 months and then one of the micro-switches will fail. I've had 5 or 6 now (mostly through warranty). When my current one dies next year I'm not sure what to replace it with as the options are very limited. It's a shame as for a £50 product there is plenty of room for improvements.

I am a gamer (although not so much with kb+m games these days) and never felt the need to splash out on the expensive toys in this department. I used to play BFV on an old cheapy MS keyboard and my trackball pretty well way back when.

Re: QOTW: Which keyboard and mouse do you use?

A Steelseries Sensei and a Ducky Shine 3 TKL with red switches.

I really should get round to replacing the wheel button microswitch, as it is becoming a bit unreliable.

I've had to replace four of the white LEDs on the keyboard so far, and recently re-solder the bottom row of letter keys as there was a faulty connection (half the bottom row stopped working). On the bright side, I am now pretty quick at opening up the keyboard, and it gets a good clean when I do.

Both the keyboard and mouse are comfortable for me. I got a Steelseries 4HD mat a few weeks ago - it's much better than using the carpet.

Re: QOTW: Which keyboard and mouse do you use?

Logitech G5 mouse (original one, not the refresh)
    Logitech g11 keyboard

both are about 10 years old. the pads on the mouse have completely worn off, its also worn the 'rough' side off the steelpad 4d mousemat. the braided cable is extensively repaired by tape and also worn a small groove where it rubs up and own on the table edge.
keyboard is covered on gunk and chips. the shift key kees getting stuck down in the gunk. never used the G macro keys on the left. they're pristine.

would I change them? nope. they've been excellent for a decade, no reason they wont last another 10 years.
the best £35 I ever spent

Re: QOTW: Which keyboard and mouse do you use?

I did have an Element Gaming Palladium keyboard until yesterday but it's a crock - lights are too bright, several keys are in non-standard places (when you're a programmer nothing will garner rage quicker than moving keys that are essential to devs but not most other propel, like ht pipe key) so I binned it even though it was fairly, new and bought a Logitech K350 which is what I should have done in the first place. I do not get the fascination with expensive mechanical units. Mouse is an old faithful Logitech RX720 which I will use until it dies. Only games I play are GTZ V, Witcher and Elite (for which I have a Saitek X52 Pro anyway) so no need for fancy setups.

Re: QOTW: Which keyboard and mouse do you use?

    Steelseries Merc Stealth Keyboard
Has a nice "side panel" to the left, which works really well for gaming, much more comfortable than using wsad or arrow keys. backlight on each keys, 3 light color options with 3 levels of dimmable light. Bought 5 of these from a closed down internet cafe, so i'll have enough for a ligetime

    Logitech G400 Mouse
Used the MX518 for years, and wore out several of them, but it ended up getting to hard to find new ones, so switched to the G400. I got quite large hands, so its not the perfect mouse for me, but so far its the one that has come the closest to perfection.

And a Steelseries QCK Heavy under the mouse. Used smaller pads in the past, but they made my wrist hurt during long game sessions. the heavy has been perfect.

On my main system I use a CM STORM Quickfire TK with cherry brown switches with a Logitech Performance MX wireless mouse.

My other system I use a Corsair K90 with cherry red switches and a Logitech Anywhere MX wireless mouse.

Re: QOTW: Which keyboard and mouse do you use?

I have a Logitech Wave keyboard that I have had for several years now. It's been faultless and the built in rubber wrist rest is nice and comfortable as well. My mouse is a 2 year old Roccat Kone+ which sits very nicely in the hand and is also very comfortable to use. It has also been faultless.

Re: QOTW: Which keyboard and mouse do you use?

Steelseries Apex 350 ( £65 ish ) as its quiet and comfortable. Its in the living room so no mechanical keyboard for me and I was to tight to stump up for a strafe mx silent.

Roccat Kone+ ( £65 ish ) until last couple of weeks as omron switch on left click was borked ( now repaired it so it will probably become my mouse of choice again.

Corsair M65 rgb ( £34.98 ) bought whilst Roccat was out of order , Its ok but I find it feels like there is a lot of drag compared to the Roccat. Great price and build quality though for people on a budget.

Roccat Taito mouse mat ( very large ) no idea what it cost as I have forgotten.

Re: QOTW: Which keyboard and mouse do you use?

A Saitek Eclipse and a Logitech MX1000. The Saitek has been great for a budget keyboard, wearing well. The backlighting is poor, but meh. The MX1000 is ancient - my first was replaced under warranty after two years with no fuss as it stopped charging. The charging dock PSU broke on the second after around four years - just replaced this with a multi-voltage adaptor. Great piece of kit overall, and the battery life is still good after ten years.

    Keyboard: Microsoft Sidewinder X4 - £25, 5 years old
Mouse: Microsoft Sidewinder (original) - £26, 8 years old

I'm not big on gaming hardware but I caught these on sale when I was looking for replacements.

I'm very happy with the performance, capabilities and build quality of these two bits of kit, less so the mouse which is a bit creaky after 8 years, I replaced the left and right click microswitches in that time, but everything works perfectly.

IBM model M, mines a 1994 version and superb to type on. The buckling spring keys are just fantastic.
The mouse is a Logitech wireless.
