Don't think this was a launch, more of a "leak". You wouldn't accuse Apple of launching the iPhone 7 when some poor quality chinese video appears showing the purported external casing

I agree the finish looks pretty good for an inexpensive cooler design.

It'll probably have the same thermal performance as the cooler on the RX 480, which isn't great. The RX 470 at stock speeds and voltages should be rather less demanding and so shouldn't have problems with throttling, but the fan will still be noisy under load. On the flip side, the externally-exhausting blower design is likely to be better for the thermal performance in the average chassis.

I'm waiting for my back order for a reference design RX 480, and the limited performance of the cooler doesn't bother me, as I'm planning on fitting an aftermarket water cooler in the medium term.

Hats off to Sapphire. They are the only OEM that supports AMD chips with a range of AMD cards. The other OEMs are all in the pockets of Nvidia.

These leaks, announcements and previews in the tech industry are starting to follow the same pattern as film releases where you get to see an out of order sequence of clips that are an amalgam of all the best bits. When you get to see the actual end result more often than not its ... Meh!
