Dropped the ball by not putting in a 4k blu-ray player.
4.2TFlops - so, 2304 shader @ ~ 912 MHz? That'd hit the reported voltage/clock sweet spot for Polaris, iirc, and would be indicative of what we're likely to see from Polaris 10 in laptops...
4.2TFlops ? why will console manufactures never give actual useful numbers?

Well considering my 480 (Nitro OC) can't really do 4k at 1360Mhz I doubt this will get near it at 900Mhz... They should have just pushed this out as a true 1080p machine with 4k upscaling.
Did someone actually say they will make games running at above 30fps for this console? Or is that just marketing speech "could/should" without any evidence it will be done?
Because im pretty sure half of remastered and even new games can do above 30fps already and only aint because of XBOX one contracts restricting them to make game run better on ps than xbox.
LOOOOOL 4.2TFlops and 2304@ 912 Mhz and the same crappy CPU with higher clocks will play game at 4k, yah sure at 10 FPS , hahahhahahaahhahaahahaha , no told these noobs that Titan XP still cannot get 60 FPS @ 4k on ultra settings??
anyway, i dont expect this to be more than 1080p on ultra settings @ 30 FPS, probably this is a mobile version of gimped RX 480.
Seems a jack of trades master of none.
More of a 2K system with clever upscaling was what Digital Foundry are saying, no UHD Blu-ray drive either though these days no-one cares about physical movies anymore though physical disc games are still coveted.

They already confirmed it's upscaling with a "dynamic resolution", similar to how Quantum Break worked on Xbox One.
Still tons to confirm - they say the Pro has "4K over HDMI" but don't name the standard (2.0a is required for HDR-10 and Dolby Vision) for example, they've not explained how they'll implement this "HDR on every system" stuff (HDMI 1.4 can technically do HDR, but it's the 8-bit colour spectrum which doesn't match the 10-bit of HDR-10 nor the 12-bit of Dolby Vision, which are the current competing standards) and they've not really confirmed how allowing multiple graphics modes will work (Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4 has 3 modes: 4K30, HDR30 and 1080P with unlocked framerate, but other games have other solutions and there's no real standard, which is a bit crazy on a console). No UHD-BR is truly puzzling too, when the One S has it.
It would have been a home run for Sony if they had included 4K blu ray. They could have gotten away with pricing it a bit higher and it would have made the XBox One S pricing look pretty ridiculous.
I thought they may have bumped the gpu speed up a bit with Project Scorpio coming. Sony could be looking to launch the PS5 in another 3 years, so maybe they thought no point potentially competing with their own future products spec wise or provide a decent step up in performance with the PS5 at least.

4k with 4.2TF...LOL. If a 1080@250w can't do it...I rest my case. Maybe if it was a 600w box with two 1080's in it...LOL. I still say a card can't do 4k until it can do it with EVERY game on the market without reduced settings Which is probably why my next monitor won't be above 1600p. Maybe the new dell 30in, though I hate that it has no support for freesync or gsync (what the heck dell? for $1250 it should do both...LOL).
Well, they can take my money.......but only because I'll want to play Gran Turismo at the highest quality possible....

HDR is coming to the standard PS4 too via firmware update:

Which will never happen, because devs write beyond the limits of current hardware. If the industry could pull its collective head of its collective rear for a minute and realise that chasing photo-realism in a game where you're literally throwing balls of magical fire around is pointless, you could have lush 4k graphics at 60fps that look fantastic. Plenty of games already do that on mid to high settings, and the IQ gains from moving to Ultra are minimal. But instead we get this ridiculous minutiae arms race about whose nano-particle simulation makes the sunlight glinting off dust in the air look more realistic ... sheesh. Gamers who really care about those kind of ridiculous e-peen details and have got the money to chase them can throw it away on multiple Titan Xes. People who just want a good looking, compelling gaming experience can get one for a fraction of the cost.
