If satellite broadband in the UK was more affordable I would get that
as prices decrees its the way to go,
it would put the GREEDY B.T. phone line broadband under pressure to drop the prices

I avoid making calls wherever possible, even on my mobile, but I have a phone plugged in mainly to receive calls from family and friends. Changing to one of those phones with built in blocking for overseas calls etc has cut the marketing calls right down and I basically let the answerphone/caller ID screen anything that gets through.
We have the basic line rental from BT broadband as we use far less than the £5/month or whatever they charge for evening calls. If I need to make a call, it goes through 18185 (or WhatsApp if the recipient uses it).
Yes, am still a landline user, could not be without it, mobile would be too expensive in comparison for our household.

No, Hardly even use mobile for calls either.
Basically have one for family emergencies or if the car breaks down, That is about it!
About to dump landline phone as we are sick and tired of the sales/marketing/survey calls.
Yeah, we still have a landline at home. And a true POTS at that. I have my mum living with me (time for me to take care of *her* when she spent so many years doing the opposite) and she's not particularly tech savvy, so a mobile phone isn't in the cards. Also, considering the landline is a POTS solution it should work even when the Internet connection is down.
I tend to use the mobile as I have a lot of bundled minutes. We do have a landline that the Mrs uses to speak to her relatives (home and abroad) and our package covers that.
As soon as it's possible to get a decent connection without a phone line (where I live) then I'll be ditching it.
Yes, partly because my cordless landline phone is more comfortable to hold in my hand than a wide but slim smartphone. As a data device a large screen might be essential, but for voice communication it is pointless.
It wasn't something I'd thought about much, but it seems (to me) that phones are being optimised for data and non-vocal communication.

My broadband speed - 750 Meganibbles/minute
Yes, I mostly just use it for 0800 numbers out of some presumably dated belief that they're not free from my mobile.
Happened naturally but I haven't used a landline for about 10 years now. So pleased to see broadband packages without line rental in the UK now.
Yep still got a BT landline, not by my choosing though. The Mrs wants to keep it, I'd be happy with just a mobile phone and broadband.
haven't plugged a phone in since my last one broke around 2011.
Still feel completely ripped off that BT are allowed to charge me £17/month for a service I don't want.

Yes, I am in a janky area for mobile reception.
Very, very occasionally, and really only when I know that I'm going to have to suffer with one of those darn stupid endless menu systems, (since a lot of mobiles will hide the keypad and some of these automated systems timeout by the time you've bought up the keypad and picked the right key).QOTW: Do you still make calls from a landline?
To be honest, if the phone rings it's invariable one of those "we'd like 30 seconds of your time for a quick survey" - and I'm finding that saying "I'm on the telephone preference service" gets rid of most of those. Leaving only those darned stupid automated boiler replacement ads. I still find that Caller Display pays for itself.
It's getting better in my experience, especially with Three there were areas of the Kingdom that were basically "dark territory", e.g. Limekilns (by the Forth nr Dunfermline) in the past that are now getting a bar or even two. Although I wouldn't necessarily subscribe to the tinfoil hat theory I heard that mobile coverage is poor just so they can sell you a landline that they can then sell the number of to those damned cold calling vultures.
you can get VOIP phone handsets for that - doesn't need to be on a landline.
We ditched ours 4 years ago. Only cos the flat we were in didn't have option for any form of internet other than adsl 1.5MB/s or sky. Never looked back. Now, even though we've moved elsewhere, we only take internet packages that offer no landline.
No, havent had a landline for over 8 years.
I still remember the landline number for my childhood home 30+ years later though.
I got rid of the telephone attached to a landline...no I lie...I've *never* had a telephone attached to a landline. First it was a 28.8K modem, moving up to a 56K modem, then ISDN, then ADSL then ADSLMax, then ADSL2+ and now on FTTC broadband. If I was in a cable enabled area, I wouldn't even have a telephone line.
Disclaimer - I cheated. I'm deaf so I've never had a telephone - the line always have been 100% internet only since I first had it. I even have a mobile for which I only go with high data (including 30GB hotspot use). Voice minutes are wasted on me.
