Corsair Dominator Platinum Special Edition DDR4 launched

This RAM is 'special' because of the two exclusive and attractive heatspreader finishes.

That is some purty looking memory.
Although "can be safely overclocked up to 3600MHz" - well wtf don't you just rate it at that then?
In my bitter old age I'm getting resentful as this pseudo-mystical "unlocking" and "ability to overclock" deliberately attached to corporate products.
I had a Celeron 300A I bought in a bag and could run 50% faster, as I owned a pencil. This was something of note.
Selling me something that *might* run 12% faster (and whacking on a premium way higher)... well *shrugs*

well you can't compare prices decently because the normal kits are 3200MHz at CL16 (4x is 310euro, 2x is 260euro) so your paying 50-100euro premium which CL14 would easily have anyway for the dominator platinum range and get limited edition, its pretty conservative premium.

It's marketing. They could say "Safely overclockable to this rate", or they could say "runs at this rate but won't go any faster" - which sounds better?

i just bought a corsair ram cooler (dominator airflow platinum led) and you can`t actually really see the rams anymore
    overclocking raises the temps, no?
corsair stressing the need for cooling to sell the fan
bit of a mixed message there- you won`t be able to see your premium-priced-cos-it-looks-all-nice rams
of course corsair would love you to buy both..
so, pretty and hot or fast and cold?
    i know which i prefer
