At 350 quid it's 3.5x more expensive than the SATA3 alternative, and over 100 quid more than a Sammy 960 EVO stick. Oh, and 10 quid more than a 960 PRO stick lol. You'd have to be tapped in the head to pick this over a Samsung PRO, they've been proven to be the best drives consistently for the last few years now

Every day usage you don't really notice - slight loading improvement on some games. Professional users see big improvements in loading and saving times, but it makes more sense to build a RAID5 out of SATA drives - 5x1tb SSDs will get you 4TB of usable space for about a grand, and you'll easily do 1-2GB/s. 4TB of PCIe however is er...put it this way, it makes Bill Gates wince

I've got a PM961/SM961 1TB (can't remember which, the expensive one... boss paid).

It does genuinely ATTO at 3GB read / 2GB write.

In use? A database restore took ~ 43mins on a 940 evo 1tb sata drive .. and about 38mins on the 961. I'm sure there are use cases where it's much faster, but remember that disk operations in many apps are single thread, often compressed so as above you might not notice much difference.

This is an MLC drive, it's a direct competitor to the 960 PRO line on both price and performance /but/ with a 240GB option. If this thing performs well I'm definitely picking up the 240gb for an OS drive.

I want the reliability and speed of MLC but the 512GB model at £300 is just terrible value and I'd never need that much super fast storage. I think Samsung ####ed up by not making a 256GB 960 PRO.

Also note that the endurance of the Corsair drives is 1.5x better than the 960 PRO by capacity.
