Windows 10 is utter crap. I thought they'd do a better job after 8 and 8.1 but no...

Thats sad the AMD 400 series are so low. The 480 has made very good gains with recent driver updates (up to 10% in some cases). Its sad how gaming is becoming so Nvidia/Intel focussed... Just hoping Rizen will allow AMD to shake it up some more.

Only issue I've discovered with 10 is an annoying habit of dropping out of full screen mode (to minimised) at random intervals. To be fair this might be fixed now (hasn't happened much recently) and might also occur in Win7 (although I never experienced it).
Win 8 was an abomination. I have absolutely no idea what MSFT were thinking about. 8.1 made 8 barely usable. Barely.
Perhaps 8 was only created to make 10 look better ?
For the most part I'm fine with windows 10, but as with anything really there's always some negatives.
The auto-update is probably the worst of them. There's no way to disable them since the anniversary update whatsoever! Very annoying when you're in the middle of doing something...
I am a prime example of the gamer trend mentioned above, I have a windows 10/GTX1070 setup for my current gaming machine and I've not ran into any troubles with windows 10 in this scenario.
It is a completely different story in a professional setting for many though I imagine.
I mainly use Ubuntu, but dual boot Windows 10 occasionally for the odd game that needs it. I have had Steam installed on both OSes for a while now (at least a couple of years on Ubuntu), and I've only ever been invited to fill in the survey twice - both times when using Windows, and never on Linux. I wonder how accurate the survey stats are.
What i don't get is why so many "gamers" have jumped on Windows 10 in the first place, unless things have changed since last time i looked generally speaking Windows 10 is no faster than previous versions of Windows, it could even be said Windows 10 is actually worse for gamers what with buggy W10 GPU drivers and other peculiarities.

I'm 50/50 professional use/gaming use. As a gamer I was probably pulled in by DX12 requiring Win 10 but it wasn't a priority. The main reason I upgraded was my Win7 install was getting a bit ragged.
With the development enhancements, nicer (in my opinion) interface etc. I'm happy with the OS. there are bits I don't like, and it's a bit of a wrestle getting the privacy settings right. I do feel it's quicker that 7, but I upgraded my RAM at the same time, which probably helped.
I don't have any regrets upgrading, although I do still dual boot and have 7 linux machines to my 1 (soon to be 2) windows 10 desktops.

Yes, I honestly believe it is that simple.
Besides, I've not seen many real problems with Windows 10. Driver bugs are the driver writer's problem, not Windows 10's, and it's not like we didn't have game - and sometimes computer - breaking driver bugs on earlier versions of Windows. I spent most of the last week playing a variety of classic games going as far back as Diablo II, and had no issue at all* running them on a Windows 10 computer. All the major hardware vendors have committed to Windows 10 support, and that means older versions are going to get a lot less care and attention. Eventually you'll hit a point where new games require Windows 10, and I'm guessing most gamers looked at that first year of free upgrade and figured "Well, I'm going to have to do it eventually, might as well get it over with while it's free".
And of course a lot of steam users won't be hardware enthusiasts, and if you've bought a new pre-built PC in the last 6 months it's likely to have Windows 10 pre-installed....
* I had to disable hardware PhysX acceleration to play Batman: Arkham City, but I can't say I'm at all upset about that
If windows didn't auto-update drivers for you then driver bugs wouldn't be a fault with W10, but W10 makes it a lot harder to avoid bad drivers
Can't remember Windows 10 ever auto-updating my GPU drivers. But even if it does, those drivers will only be available on Windows Update if the hardware vendors have published them there (and I believe they need to be WHQL too). Still not seeing how that *isn't* a problem with the vendor rather than Windows 10...

True but in the past if drivers caused problems that would be the driver writer's problem not Microsoft's as they were (mostly) the ones who published driver updates, the company who releases/publishes the driver is (IMO) responsible for quality checks and any ensuing problems, it's why Microsoft went down the WHQL route because they wanted to ensure quality, sadly their attempt at improving the quality of drivers didn't really improve things that much.
It is better but then again what could be worse ? what pee's me off the most about it is they seem to be working on eye candy apps rather than the OS it's self, holo-lens? who the hell is going to use it ?, 3d printer app? ............. yet desktop users still can't change from a white or black theme and no areo / no classic windows theme.
I'd love to be employed in charge of the windows 10 team ....... man I'd be handing out P45's like crazy.
