The price will no doubt be massive. I'll be waiting for Vega and making a decision then
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Ti Power !! gimme now, lets see what this gpu can do & how much it costs. Vega is going to be shown i'm sure but availability is expected around May 2017 time if i'm correct. That gives Nvidia a month & more to beat them to launch and still put a premium price on it. The only reason I haven't fully played Witcher 3 or Gears of war 4 is to see these games in full glory with all graphics setting at Max. Vega or 1080Ti hmm been many years since i had a AMD/Ati card.

FINALLY. Bought a 4KTV at new year, been holding off upgrading my graphics card waiting for this. Been doing my nut in having to play at 1080p after seeing what 4K looks like.

    I sit *real* close so I got a 43". It's a Sony 43XD8305

TBH I didn't rate it..until I played some HDR films. They are astounding. They're almost 3D they pop so much, truly beautiful. If you're planning on going 4K I'd avoid any non-HDR movies, they're barely noticeably better than 1080p (plus, at 60gigs a pop they're not worth the space/download time). I have some at 20gigs which look better than the 60gb non-HDR.

I paid £650 for it though, from Currys too, guess it was on offer for new year. Oh and as a bonus, 1080p runs at 90hz (you have to set a custom resolution, but ya it works fine), I dunno how many other sets would let you do this. It's a good trade off for having to stick with 1080p.

Oh and can I just give Rockstar some props. GTA V runs at near max settings at 4K, on a 1060. No other games get close. It's incredible how well they did the game.

I'm actually planning on going OLED..maybe. The problem is you can't get an OLED smaller than 55" and I sit 4ft away from it, and have limited room. Also they have more input lag..but they're *so* beautiful. I got this TV because the Samsung KS7000 (quantum dot) was out of stock. I settled, and I'm..kinda..happy with it, but I go Costco a lot and keep seeing the OLED and I really want it ha.

I've found 4K movies to be a bit underwhelming really (even with HDR on a 65"), 4K gaming on the other hand......Forza Horizon and FIFA particularly....wow.

That *is* surprising. With such a huge TV (congrats btw haha) I'da thought you'd notice the quality difference more. The film that did it for me was John Wick, I did a side by side with the bluray vs a 20gb HDR rip and the quality was very noticeable

Yeah I'm really looking forward to getting a 1080Ti, so many games are crying out for 4K! Just bought Dishonored 2 the other day, and while it's a beautiful game, I put it on 4K to see what it looked like (20fps haha) and it was almost painful to go back to 1080p

I've not played Forza. For some reason the Windows Store isn't installed, I think it didn't come with the version of Win10 I have, I need to do a reinstall. Thinking of getting a Ryzen system so will move to an M.2, that'll be an opportunity to install a different Windows. I really want Forza and Dead Rising 4

Re: The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti countdown has begun

Aye the new Samsung is what I wanted, but not with the curved screen. The 7000 is apparently the same panel, but the 8000 has more bells and whistles. As I use it as a PC monitor I don't need em. I would recommend looking at the 7000 (or 7500 if you're set on a curved screen, but if you're a family man I wouldn't recommend it, you have to sit pretty straight on).

OLED is pricey but there's nothing touching it. I'd be looking at £1700 or so, but tbh it's gonna last me at least a decade (lol fingers crossed), so it's a decent investment

The only way I'd welcome the launch of the 1080 ti is if it drives down the price of the 1070 cards (doubtful).
