QOTW: Have you pre-ordered AMD Ryzen?

As posted earlier in this thread I have pre-ordered so have nailed my £££ to the mast. I don't expect there to be mass shortages of product at retail so the need to pre-order won't be for shortages, so can I ask, in all respect what exactly those 'waiting for reviews' PC user are expecting them to say? By this I mean in which metric does Ryzen have to come up short to make it a bad buy.

The speed of Ryzen even IF a bit slower, against it's cost is changing the landscape. I personally have not seen a single performance metric that would make this CPU a duck egg EVEN if those figures had been 'polished' up a bit to be best case. Outside of the platform not being able to run an OS I can't seen where your pre-order could be a risk. maybe....

Nope. Can't see where I am going to see much difference and CPU, mobo and RAM is going to weigh in at well over £500 for nothing more.

Great if you spend your time re-encoding video though I guess. Maybe if they had released a decent CPU a year or 2 ago I might have jumped.

Nope. Don't use my rig often enough to justify it. If I was building a new PC now, I would consider it, but I would want to see some reviews first. My gaming needs aren't that great so I'd probably go with something 4c/6c so in the Ryzen 5 range.

I'm sitting back and waiting at the moment until I get real world benchmarks of various tests in my hands.

Even then, once I've read them, its going to be a few months before I end up getting a new CPU, Motherboard, RAM and also graphic card(s) sorted out.

You would be a mug to pre-order. Better to wait for the reviews and then for prices to settle. Also worth waiting to see how Intel prices move in response.
