Think when my iPhone contract is up this time next year I am going to back to an Xperia handset, the Z2 was one of my favourite phones

Re: Sony launches four X-Series smartphones

Z3 was my favourite, after that they seemed to have lost their way abit especially in the camera department. The new ones do look half decent but i think they'll be overpriced when they do arrive and the 4K display (if permanently 4k will kill the battery which is too small already)

Tbh the LG G6 looks more inspiring to me...if only it had the S835 SoC then it would be near perfect.

I've got a Z3 compact at the moment, I need to upgrade mine to the mrs can take this one. I like the water-proofing feature which isn't available on the later compacts, but I also really like the sensible size.

I'm tempted by the XZs, but the size puts me off.

Glad they improved the camera Z3 one was really really bad, like there was literally no point trying to take a low light photo with it. But still with the Sony bloatware spamming notifications I don't think I'd buy another Sony phone. Happy with my OP3T.

Really?, when we in the UK don't get the quad dac, wireless charging and only 32gig. Also camera test have already shown it is weaker than the S7, Iphone 7, V20 and Pixel.
Pricing is $800 dollars on launch in Korea for a phone with mainly 2016 specs.
I would say it's far from perfect.

    Let me rephrase..."perfect for me"

As for camera tests it's far too early too tell to make meaningful comparisons but all the reviews I've seen put it on a par with the Pixel and S7 etc.

As for the different specs for different regions it's baffling but things like wireless charging may be easily overcome like they were with the G4. Quad DACs and storage differences (once basic storage is enough & SD card support is present) are largely irrelevant.....To me.

Re: Sony launches four X-Series smartphones

My Z3 ownership has made me less of a Sony fan.
The ridiculous change of policy on how waterproof the Z3 is, the feeble USB flap and the abandonment of Z3 to Nougat after Sony used the Z3 to test their upgrade to Android 7 - don't respect Sony at all.
Thought rhe Pixel XL would be my March upgrade, but too overpriced for not enough improvement.
Might as well go to PAYG until something suitable arrives.

A friend of mine has a Z5 premium and isn't particularly happy with it, less stellar than his previous Z3.

To be fair to Sony the Z3 Nougat debacle was not of their doing. I believe iirc that that was Google/Qualcomm stitch up and Sony's hands were tied.

Re the charging flap, never had an issue with mine, nor on my Z3 tablet. However I do recognise it was an issue for others.

As for the waterproofing, that was a big mis-step from Sony considering how the phone was advertised.

Re: Sony launches four X-Series smartphones

Personally I won't be buying any Sony devices ever again unless they get their act together. They used to be my go to company but now that is Samsung. Sorry Sony, 3 strikes and you are out:
Got a PS3 for Linux & then they ditched Linux
Bought their Xperia Play to have them drop their customers like a hot potato a short bit later because it wasn't working out well on the next Android version
Tried a Sony blueray player which was a horrible experience, especially their Netflix interface.
