I changed my Ryzen build to an I7 7700K - so 4 cores 8 threads
Same here but I have the llano A4-3400 which is a dual core. The CPU cost around £40. I've had no performance issues with it at all. I paid extra for an A75 motherboard with better SNR and USB3.0 ports. Totally worth it as I noticed the better sound difference compared to my previous systems. I also think 8GB RAM and a 120 GB SSD allowed a more responsive system.
bah, you and your fancy schmancy 800mhz Pentium.
just for that, i've plugged my Commodore 64 up via my VHS. 64k memory and tape drives. into a 24" jvc lcd
its got word processing software, takes 1 hour to load on tape, so it still counts as a desktop
the sound is a bit overkill though. B&W 600 s2's in 7.1 via a denon avr x2200
4 Cores, 4 Threads
2 cores and 2-way SMT.
4/4 (Phenom II 955)
Those 4 cores are more often than not all running flat out (a few tabs of javascript heavy web pages seems enough to stretch it these days).
Was annoyed to find it was comfortably outpaced by a 2/4 i3 build that I did for someone over a year ago.
Patiently awaiting 12 thread Ryzen.
I also have a MOS Technology 6510 running at a whopping 0.985 Mhz (PAL version, NTSC runs at 1.023 Mhz), with the superb VIC II chip for graphics and 64k of ram!!
I also have a Motorola 68000 running at 8 Mhz alongside 4 Mb of ram (520k is stock) and a Blitter chip for graphics which allows hardware sprites, the Blitter though caused compatibility issues at times.
Another I have is a Z80 CPU with 64k ram but no dedicated graphics chip. I have got an X-Mem attached to it though which makes it think it is a 6128 spec machine with a huge 128k ram!
6C12T Intel 6850
8C8T FX-8120 in my gaming PC (depending if you count the half dual-core, half SMT bulldozer module setup as 2 cores )
Interestingly, usage of the extra cores seems to be going up in recent games, which is good news for gaming in general.
2C4T i7 2640m in my laptop
2C2T phenom2 x555 in my server PC (this really needs more cores, but alas this wasn't one of the lucky CPUs were you could unlock either of the two disabled cores) Still, 6M L3 cache (designed for a 4-core CPU) On a 2-core CPU helps a fair bit. Cache overkill

My most used custom built PC is the HTPC, which has 3 cores, a Phenom II X3 710. Soon to be upgraded to a Pentium G4560.
My desktop (which is hardly used) has a 6 core Phenom II X6 1090T.
FX8350 so 8C8T
My CPU is an old Intel 875K with 4 cores/8 threads. It's probably a bit long in the tooth now, and I'm not far off needing an upgrade, but that choice is very difficult now. I would have liked to have gone with an 8 core AMD processor, but the gaming performance doesn't seem enough of an improvement over what I have already. On the other hand, I don't really want to upgrade to another 4 core/8 thread CPU eight years after I got my current one!
Hexus is trying to embarrass me! Desktop cores? Erm.. One?! Lol
4 cores and 8 threads in my i7-2600
