Re: Star Citizen developers drop DirectX 12 for Vulkan API
I wish all developers would think like this, there really is no good reason for them to use dx12 over vulkan, unless MS are paying them to ignore vulkan??!
Re: Star Citizen developers drop DirectX 12 for Vulkan API
Almost makes me consider throwing money their way.
Re: Star Citizen developers drop DirectX 12 for Vulkan API
No Multi GPU support then.
Re: Star Citizen developers drop DirectX 12 for Vulkan API
Wish more developers would choose a neutral API, rather than a OS specific one.
My only reason for upgrading to Windows 10, was games.
The more companies that embrace neutral API's, the closer i get to finally choosing an OS. And Microsofts path for Windows 10 isnt one i like at all.

Fake News. ;)
Vulkan supports Multi GPU on all versions of Windows, it's only LDA (Linked display adapter) that's Windows 10 exclusive.

Xbox one. The only system without vulkan support... If your EA and making a xbox/PC game DX12 is the better choice. Thankfully DX12 and Vulkan are close enough to make porting easy enough from what I hear.

Somehow I like to see big monopoly corporations get beaten by "underdogs". Take that Microsoft :)

Star Citizen announces another excuse for prolonging development time.
Re: Star Citizen developers drop DirectX 12 for Vulkan API
AAA games on Linux who would have thought it. Stuff like this will get me on Linux, if only Adobe would budge and embrace it.

Yeah I thought that as well, I threw a chunk of cash at them in November 2012, I was shocked to find an email that old.
I have not tried the game in over 2 years, I gave up with all the changes and am still considering cashing out by selling my account.

So CIG doesn't want to force users into upgrading to Windows 10....
But Vulkan multi-GPU support will require Windows 10 - http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-news/3...dows-10-a.html
And given how SC keeps harping on about driving performance forward and needing all the latest toys to get decent gaming from it...
Whatever the intent, it's all sounding like more mess from SC.
