Single component would be the 5960X a few years back cost me AU$1200.
Otherwise if you mean an all out spend up in one go it would be the two 980Ti's I bought together for sli, Roughly AU$2000
Doubt I'll go extreme cpu again, I'll go back down one tier. I had to YOLO at least once on a cpu.

Right now it's the Asus ROG Poseidon GTX980 I got for my new build a few years ago (around £530). Tomorrow that's changing to a 27' Acer Predator XB1 monitor (£600), at least until I decide if I want to splurge out on a 1080ti.

Got an R9 280 as well, bought the cheapest one (XFX) and it overclocks like a champ without any voltage increase. I tend to keep it at 1120/1550 for super stable but it can do 1190/1575 but occasional crashes. Think it can go a lot further with some increase in voltage but don't want to risk it at the moment until I have something newer.

I love my R9 280 plays every game very well nearly bought a R480 but not a massive jump really will wait another year i reckon.
