There shouldnt be... but I would be interested to see the results in DX12 testing.

Perhaps AMD could add some driver level optimizations for Ryzen CPUs that Nvidia wouldn't have the same incentive to do?

They should have an incentive to do so,otherwise anyone who buys a Ryzen CPU would buy an AMD card, and they would lose sales!

Indeed, I'm not suggesting they have zero incentive, but for AMD the incentive is greater for basically the same reason. They want people to buy Ryzen AND Vega and for Nvidia to lose sales

I just noticed some videos on the Zen thread suggesting that this actually might be the case?

There's that, or even previously BZ (Before Zen), the kind of person who would have bought an i7-6900K is the kind of person who might by two 1080Ti's, or even if only on a single card, is also likely to complain when their very expensive system is being hampered.

Because - while this is now being discussed in terms of Ryzen - a similar issue should affect anyone with more than 4 cores; it's just that most of the reviewers seem to have settled on 6700 or 7700 and didn't notice even when do actually do some CPU scaling tests.
