Asus, MSI and Sapphire Radeon RX 580s seen in etailer listings

You can see AMD Radeon RX 570 and RX 550 cards listed too. Prices seem high.

I would imagine that if the prices are really that high then they're not just polaris rebrands.

Its hard to say - before the R9 390/390X were released R9 290/290X prices were pretty low.

The more important question - where is AMD Vega??

I'd certainly hope they're not, but really there's nothing else on the roadmap they could be, since the only other architecture that's been announced/worked on is Vega and that uses HBM2 not GDDR5. They'd need to be huge speed bumps to justify this kind of pricing, or the 580 would need to be a Polaris 12 with more shaders. Even a 20% clock speed boost (~1500MHz) would at best make it competitive with the Fury X - that's still a long way behind the GTX 1070...

At the bottom end, OTOH. the lowest prices are down around RX 460 levels, so it's reasonable to assume the RX 550 could be a tweaked RX 460, leaving the RX 560 to be a fully-enabled Polaris 11....

I don't know if the pricing is so outrageous overall... if the top of the range Asus RX580 OC version is £326, then I expect other vendors will be below £300, since Asus typically are at the top of the range.

However, I am surprised that the Saphire prices are higher than Asus, and the MSI prices are stupid.

Re: Asus, MSI and Sapphire Radeon RX 580s seen in etailer listings

correction, XFX was by far the priciest in regards to obscene pricing for RX 400 series, on average some $30 more then competing solutions when they basically offered nothing "extra" for the price increase oh wait, they put in fans that could be "unclipped" quickly if needed to clean oe replace yet the shroud attached to the card was not easily removed nor was/is cooling that very good, so, very high premium price for little to nothing given that others are not also doing hmmmm.

Asus with the ROG STRIXX their "best" version was at most an average of $15 premium to closest competitor, but did offer something extra in that was/is an actual good cooling solution provided for the core/vram/vreg, overclock software, LED and such, same with MSI, gigabyte is well gigabyte.

likely these are place holder pricing, as the RX 580 8GB is so far rumored to be %199, while the RX 480 8GB launched at $229 USD, the whole lineup RX 500 supposed to be ~$20-$30 less pricey but faster and better power/thermals then outgoing RX 400 series. but it is all rumor till actual launch, which last I heard was either April 8 or 18th, Vega is due out later, which has been said many many many times over in 2Q so april-June ish.

    No Sapphire Tri-X card?

did they completely phase out that fan design? cause i kinda love this R9 290 Tri-x i'm using. Most quiet card i have ever had.
