Friend that works at Amazon germany claims MSI is lowering their price of the flagship MSI 1080Ti Gaming X just to lower their overall stock of 1080Ti ahead of VEGA release just because they know the performance of VEGA and that it will disrupt the high end market. (Price @Amazon.de is 780 Eur incuding shipping)

Remember people 'launch' is NOT the same as buy. I just feel this is going to be another circus. Ryzen 'launched' but it was about 6 weeks before you could buy a mainboard.

Isn't it also reported elsewhere that stocks will be limited for Vega due to HBM2? This is the Fury X all over again...

Don't think " It will be another circus " It's just a card , boards are already out there. Unless of course AMD release the GPU chips with no PCB attached. lol.

well you say that. but what if they only launch the supporting drivers on the day or a week after launch, and theres a bug in the early review drivers causing it to go 20% slower or thereabouts.
all the reviews will say its garbage and buggy.

not like that didnt happen with the ryzen launch

Not a typo, that's the expected competion when it finally releases.

    I'll show myself out...

In all seriousness, this could be interesting. Depending on prices, I know at least one person wanting to upgrade their GTX 970 to something that costs less than a 1070.

Let's hope the reference cooler is more Fury X and less RX480, also known as 'roughly the same cooler we've been fitting since the 2900XT, and it was poo then'.

CPUs ≠ GPUs when it comes to software support. Most of the issues with Ryzen were BIOS problems, not something AMD directly created. For game performance, it was almost certainly because Ryzen systems were being recognised as new unknown chips by the game and given Phenom / Bulldozer / Intel code that hampered their very different design. Irrespective, it's nothing like Vega, where if rumours are true, Linux got its Vega driver ma while ago (and you'd hope that Windows was done first). By the time anyone has one in their hand (and is allowed to talk about it) the drivers should be very ready.

Nothing wrong with the 480 reference cooler. It's as good as a 1070, and noticeably better than a 1080 cooler

Re: Trio of AMD Vega reference cards to be released 5th June: report

Well with the information from AMD in the last week and my experiences with the Ryzen launch, I have been given NO reason to hang on for Vega so last Friday I ordered my 1080ti. TBH it was the 'you'll be glad you waited' comment from the fekkers that did it I won't regret my decision (I tend not to do that for any decision on a choice to me) I'm just sorry AMD are so tardy for whatever reason. All I wanted from the presentation by them was a 'we expect Vega release ...timeframe...' but nadda. Anyway they lost me for another GPU cycle.
