    "Properly designed" What an arrogant tosspot. They ARE properly designed, for their intended usage. Just because they can't be pushed as far as YOU want doesn't mean they aren't properly designed.

    Maybe he should design a motherboard, or go work for a motherboard maker, if he thinks he's all that.

    well no .. when you take the heat sink off and put a fan on it it's ok .. so there is a problem ..

    Except they are not. If you go over to the manufacturer's sites (Asus in particular mention overclocking as their first feature even for their cheaper X299 boards), the marketing is all full of how good they are at overclocking.

    So they are designed, advertised and sold as overclocking board but aren't actually any good at overclocking as somehow the bling and look had more effort spent on it than something as fundamental as decent VRM cooling and a chip which can draw 300W.

    Who cares? If you need strong multi-threaded performance, go with Ryzen 7 or 9 and get excellent performance for a lot less dosh.
