Re: Microsoft Surface Precision Mouse announced

Nuts price and several equally nuts design decisions.

Micro USB, really?! If ever there is a use for USB-C it's a brand new mouse designed for an ultra-modern brand.

Also please tell me I can replace the battery - I can't see any compartments which suggests it is charged via the USB cable and isn't user-replaceable (even more reason not to spend £100 on it). Just use an AA battery or 2!

The Logitech Performance MX (and presumably its successors) has the perfect system. A wireless mouse that can be tied by a cable which charges the replaceable battery. How hard can it be?

Never heard of a mouse being used as a phone before

3 thumb buttons is great but these are poorly placed. Not a mouse for gaming and with that price tag, not a mouse for the office.

Sadly the moment you see "surface" in the title of a product, you need to immediately add 30%-40% "style/poser" tax according to MS. It doesn't really make sense to me, because I really don't see MS as a "style/poser" brand. I guess another way to put it would be an "Apple-tax" imposed by MS without really understanding why Apple gets away with it!

I suspect/hope the Intellimouse mentioned in the article will be more classic-MS and pocket-friendly.

I can... I've currently got an mx master from logitech but only got it because there wasn't a decent option from MS. MS Mice have been the most reliable and long lasting mice I've used, I've still got one going strong 10 years after I got it, yet I already feel like my MX Master (similar price range) is on it's way out after about a year.

I do wish the MS mouse was in black though, my kit is black with the odd dash of silver here and there (display stand for example) I might miss the convenience of the thumb pressure pad on the mx master and the option of not using bluetooth but if it was available when I bought my mouse I'd have happily grabbed that MS mouse over logitech at that price without any hesitation. I do agree that it should really have been a usb 3 socket up front though.

Well your experience of logitech is very different to mine I guess, everything I've had from them has been great.

To be fair I bought logitech because normally they have a good rep but it seems if you look online the MX Master seems to have been plagued with issues, if I'd have known about them before buying the mouse I'd have looked for an alternative or spent longer looking for a MS one.
