Looks good. How much $$$ for 1PB SSD?

Were quite a way off that, they mean you can put enough of these in a 1U box to total 1PB of storage.

My guess is "many".

Well going on Intel pricing for enterprise is ~£1k for 1.6TB, and you need about 625 1.6TB drives to get 1PB, a heck of a lot I'd guess....

Nice to have some innovation in data centre storage...
Re: Intel intros 'Ruler' SSD form factor, and dual port SSDs
No mention of whether the format is encumbered with license fees to people to make and/or use them, which could make or break the design.
Don't get it though. If the world needed physically larger storage we would be using 5.25 inch drives still rather than ever more compact and stripped down forms.

2.3 and 3.5" form factor is designed for spinning rust and is not ideal for SSD, Personally I think its great that someones coming up with a standard build around SSD.

OK, I just spent about £625,000 (or more because it is new specialised tech) on 1PB of storage, I think it will take me a while to save up for the rest of the computer.
Maybe I should have bought a nice house instead. :-)
Back to being serious, I know they said they could fit 1PB into a 1U server, but how many do they plan on fitting in - or what sort of capacity will these drives have? Asking because the only 1U server I've seen only took 2 drives.
