Hurray for AM4 and AMD promising supporting the platform for years to come. Can't wait to use the same motherboard 4 generations from now!

I'd be interested in that i3 8350K, was tempted by a i3 7350K but ended up getting a 6600K given price.

If its for a gaming rig,I don't see the point. Even DF kind of found the Ryzen 5 1600 looked a better bet than the Core i5 7600k which is what the Core i3 8350K essentially is!

I think the Core i5 8400 looks a far better CPU than the Core i3 8350K.

Interesting that they haven't decided to completely gouge the pricing and have kept it relatively the same as its predecessors. However it is interesting that they are quoting a performance gain at lower clock speeds unless it's a marketing bumf and they are comparing the boost clock of the CF series to the base clock of the predecessor. What I also don't like is the boost clock is higher than its predecessor but the base clock is lower, this tells me these chips are quite hot and they've had to downclock it when it's in standard operation and only boost to the frequencies when the thermals are just right.

Just makes me feel like that clock for clock, these chips are the same but just more power hungry and not much extra (except for the 50% increase in cores).

    Same.

I think Zen2 will do it.
Ryzen cores, logic, branch prediction, lessons learned etc on a lithography process that's got the legs for speed. Ryzen is great (best chip out there imo) but it's slightly hobbled.

Base clock has to be lower because there's more cores, they're probably much better for perf/watt (because all chips do better at lower frequencies)

That's the same with most of the real new chips though. If you have the cooling right they'll boost. It does mean that us enthusiasts get better performance whilst the people who just have an office type pc get the stability and better power consumption
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
