Re: Reviews - Foxconn Bloodrage X58: the overclockers' dream

Thought the Bloodrage was slated for sub-£300 ? Although i think that could have been before the pound depreciation ¬.¬

Overall seems like a good review, have been keeping my eye on this board ever since it was announced .

Also one thing CustomPC noted in their "First Look" was that the memory slots were a little too close to the socket ? Especially when using the taller DIMMs such as Dominators and a HSF which needed a side mounted fan.

So what happens when you try a board that does have many issues?

One thing that threw me a little when reading was the description of the "previously-mentioned Creative Sonar X-Fi" in, unless I'm blind, it's first introduction to the article.

I do like the look of the Bloodrage, but can't help thinking that Foxconn by having two disparate boards serve the high end market with markedly different features they do risk missing the mark slightly with both - but we'll see when both products are released.

This board has " does not and cannot scale " written all over it.
Chock full dimmslots and cards sticking into all sorts of slots from
day 1 isn't a good sign for any board....

But, for the Need.Computer.Crowd its okay I guess...

Re: Reviews - Foxconn Bloodrage X58: the overclockers' dream

£300 ..... £300...... £300.....

£300 for a motherboard is steep, silly steep. Don't care how good it is, how you justify a £200 price hike over a £100 motherboard to gain very little extra....

Ok, I know there are no X58 motherboards at £100 pounds, but still --- £300

Intel are taking the piss with the X58 price and so are manufacturers. Some many people are thinking , sod Intel and their stupid price and turning their attention to AMD.....

Its like 7 years ago, Intel got very greedy and thought their ruled the roost and AMD swooped in and took their glory by selling tons more CPU's.

Don't care if AMDs new CPU's aren't faster the i7, at £200 for a mobo and £200 for a cpu intel can shove it.

My thoughts exactly... I really don't care how fast they are, nothing they say will be able to justify the crazy price tag they have on the new processors and subsequent motherboards.

I believe you must be blind. its on the line:

"Expansion-wise, a single PCIe x1 slot is positioned right below where the add-in soundcard would be located; you'll see how just a few pictures on".

Its not much of an introduction and is understandable to miss

Re: Reviews - Foxconn Bloodrage X58: the overclockers' dream

Agreed on the price, £300 for a motherboard is just daylight robbery imo, hell I think £200 is a rip off, personaly I wont pay more than £150 for a motherboard.
Purly because of the price of these boards im gonna wait and see what the AM3 CPU's are like, if there not much cop ill stick with this board and get a Core 2 Quad CPU.

LOL.

I wonder how long it will take for these motherboards to come down to a reasonable (£150?) level, so that I can afford it...

(Possibly that's what Core i5 will be about (although I don't know much about i5, yet).)

I like this mobo , I dont think the double set of holes for LGA775 and LGA1366 are necessary ,I agree about the three DIMM slots are a bit too close to the CPU but for me just three DIMM slots are enought , what for six DIMM Slots ?
