Never mind the Vertex 4 - dat' m4 performance!
Crucial uses Intel controller though doesn't it? This uses a new 'in house' one which performs overall to about the same level.
The actual noticeable performance of an SSD is pretty much irrelevant though, they are all basically the same in typical usage, the thing which is important for customers is reliability. We have no idea how this controller will perform, it could be a good or a bad... only time will tell. I personally have pretty high hopes for it though i must say.

Looks good on paper, and I actually think Indilinx controller will be good as AFAIK, the OCZ Vertex is pretty good. Personally I try my best to stay away from SF controllers and welcome the others.
Unfortunately, due to Vertex 2 and 3 both using SF controllers and OCZ being plagued with problems, I can't imagine much of the general consumer market buying the OCZ Vertex 4. I'm not sure how the general consumer market compares to the business enterprise market though in terms of SSD adoption/sales.

i think the whole 'plagued with problems' comment is a bit OTT. The issues where all fixed with firmware and a lot of users didnt notice them. Its just FUD mostly i reckon. OCZ still sold very well and probably will do the same again, as long as the price is right.
All we all need now is Intel to release the new updated drivers so TRIM is enabled in RAID and we can all put SSD drives in RAID 0 and have some crazy transfer speeds.
How fast do people really need? I have 2x OCZ Vertex 2 RAID0.. It is fast, but I'm wondering if one of these will beat it.
When will Intel bring out the new driver for TRIM support?
Need to see how these stack up against the new intel 330's and from there i will make a choice on if am getting one or not.
Some do, others use Intel's own controller and they have a SF based one now, the 520.
The problems were relatively common, OCZ handled the problem poorly, ignoring it at first and deleting forum posts about it. When they finally admitted it they didn't exactly break any records getting the patch out.

I have had a vertex 2 for ages and had no problems with it. I updated the bios on it and that wa painless and nothing bad happoned after that. I now have a vertex 3 to install in my system and im not expecting anything bad to happon with that either
The vertex 4 looks promising but we will have to see how the market takes it. I will stick with my 2 and 3

Every time I see SSD reviews the Crucial M4 128gb continues to impress and it seems that every week it drops in price currently £108 at Aria last week it was £114 at Scan. I don't know how much longer I can hold out
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.
