Wow, I can't believe it runs so cool and quiet in SLI mode.

I'd love to buy a slightly smaller version of this cooler but the chances of that are very slim, not to mention that it would probably cost a pretty penny.

Interesting article, would of liked to have seen them tested against against other multi-card setups for comparisons sake. I'd like to know the performance gains vs GTX680 SLi for example or 7970 Crossfire.

AMD next gen is supposed to be later this year too, earlier than Maxwell.

This is what people who can afford it should go for. I am certainly going to buy 2 of them. Thanks for a very thorough review.

Re: Reviews - KFA² GeForce GTX 780 in SLI

    wait wait wait.

Did I just see the 7990 hit a system bottleneck on Dirt Showdown - at 2560x1600? With an i7-3770 in the socket?

Seriously - it loses 1fps from 1080p to 2560x1600. That's phenomenal. Way to go AMD developer relations

And now I've got over that - well done Nvidia: a well engineered top-end solution that really puts Titan into perspective. That said, surely the real use of two of these puppies in SLI is for some serious multi-monitor shenannigans? Any chance of a GTX780 SLI over 3 screens review?

tbh, other than bragging rights cards like these are pointless. They're like the Bug Veyron, super powerful but, where does the shopping go?
With the specs of the new consoles now defined most all games are going to be very optimised and able to run at high/vhigh on current mid-end previous high-end cards and will pretty much continue to do so until the consoles run outta puff some 5+ years from now.

Re: Reviews - KFA² GeForce GTX 780 in SLI

Nice performance. Just like the GTX Titan, the GTX 780 shows that if you pluck tw of them in a system it will out perform a double GPU card. The only thing really is that the price of buying two would matter to some people. Paying for two of these cards would cost $50-$150 more(depending which e-tailor you purchase it from) than a Radeon HD 7990 and a GTX 690. Still one would be just enough for me.

Re: Reviews - KFA² GeForce GTX 780 in SLI

    Slight misconception there Hexus.
"KFA² GeForce GTX 780 SLI 6GB" should read "KFA² GeForce GTX 780 3GB SLI"

No, SLI doesn't double the available memory. This is like saying the i7-3770 is clocked at up-to 15.6Ghz or 31.2Ghz if you take the Hyper-threads into account...

Each GPU has a copy of the textures and geometry. Its just like RAID1, you can read twice as fast, as you have 2 copies but writing does not benifit. Its not RAID10 and that format doesn't exist with GPUs.

Your only talking about benching them at relatively low resolutions. Someone that throws £1100 at GPUs isn't going to throw 'just' a £350 2560x1440 screen, they will likely have multiple 1080p or even 1440p screens.
Benching them at ultra high resolutions (triple screen) you will find the Titan beat the SLI GTX 780's hands down due to its 6GB frame buffer. The same can be said of the 7990 6GB, has the same issue, only 3GB per GPU.

With that in mind, I second @scaryjim's request!

In conclusion, I can only presume the phasing was because of the 7990's title, the GTX 780 SLI configuration had to match

I'm more interested in the 760 and 770 they will have a lot better bang for your buck anyone who gets this card is just wasting money

Re: Reviews - KFA² GeForce GTX 780 in SLI

This looks very impressive more bang for buck in single GPU mode or SLI. Much more cost effective than buying either the GTX Titan, GTX 690 and the 7990. But still I'll wait till the Maxwell GPU's come out sitting pretty with my SLI GTX 570's.

What the charts clearly show is that unless you have a very very large monitor or multi monitor set up there really is no need to look beyond the 7970. The gameplay will be totally smooth.

I think it'd be nice to include slightly cheaper options so people can see the performance difference when going for the next model down, like the 670 or 7950 in xfire, or at least the 680 in xfire to compare the previous generation's performance
