    Based on the performance figures alone im amazed at how well XP has stood the test of time. Im more disappointed that 7 hasnt moved on that much especially with 64bit.

    In the case of my laptop Ive had to dual boot it with XP. Vista & 7 drains the battery power like no tomorrow. When im plugged in, Vista & 7 are both nice OS's to use and performance is fine though the fan never stops.

    Ive found the AMD Cool n Quiet driver in XP works so much better at slowing down the CPU when simply on the Internet/Office apps verses the in-built power management within Vista & 7.
