    can I just say:

That was a very good presentation, by a vey confident person, selling a very good product. It reeked of proper salesman selling good item, with zero bull, no horrible phrases, and no boardroom phraseolgy. With more stuff like that, HEXUS.tv will be the first stop-off for everyone about to buy something.

And the machine DOES look the mutt's nuts.

Not that my grandmother's likely to read this stuff but just in case ... bye! no, I mean sorry! oh bugger, you'll just have to wait 'til the review

My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

I quite fancy the prospect of some old-skool über portable Windows gaming.

    Re: World's Smallest Vista-PC on HEXUS.tv

I was wondeirng what level of game a device would have to play before I was happy to use it 'on the fly'

Not sure it has to be graphically intense - just something that would take my mind of life for a 2-4 hour journey (where, rarely, I did not have anything uber-urgent to complete workwise!)

I am up for suggestions, but can I kick off the list with (read the following list with this prefix - 'A VERSION OF...'):-
    • Call of Duty
    • Civ
    • Counter Strike
    • FarCry
    • Half Life
    • Quake
    • Sims
    • Warcraft

Plus, for the oldtimers, maybe a simple bundle of classis, including things like GoldenEye, Zelda and Mario

The most advanced/demanding game on this list is probably FarCry, but when you consider that the native resolution of the OQO screen is only 800x480 - then that is 384,000 pixels or so that need processing 30 times a second... which, for a 1.6GHz CPU with 1GB DDR2 533 etc should be fine

    Thoughts ?

That list pretty much covers it for me although I would add:
    • Command & Conquer
    • Rise of Nations: it works with Intel's onboard solution
    • Warhammer 40k: probably pushing it though

We know it handles StarCraft well enough so the old-skool games are a safe bet.

In any case, a run-down of the GPU's technical capabilities would be useful in determining what should be compatible.

So, are we close to having a video feature/review?

My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

As long as it handles something old-school like Crysis I wouldn't be bothered. (Giggles.)

You're welcome. I hope you won't mind if I stick the quote up up somewhere in my bedroom...

While I think of it, I've heard people saying they found this really hard to use as there was too much on a small screen. 800x480 on a 5in is a lot. iIRC, though, the UX-1XN has 1024x600 on a 4.5in screen.
"Now where'd I put my magnifier? It's around here somewhere. Oh Drat. Ah, well, at least there's a magnifier button."
    (Sony, on the ball, apu...)
I am trying to work out if I'd prefer the extra resolution (Sony) or extra screen size (OQO). About 1/2 my time would be spent movie watching, so I'd want VMC, and I'd want Vista's touch screen capability, so I'd insist on Vista Ultimate. (I bet DreamScene would look good on one of these...)

One would get about 20gb spare space, if using a SSD drive. Not a lot, but enough for a 24 series, (if sdTV,) some tunes, and maybe even some work - ah, I wouldn't have enough space to install CrySis, then, so scrap that work-idea-thingy. (Silly idea, itfp.)

    LaterZ...

One thing I forgot to ask about was 'external storage options' if using the SSD...

As the dock has a USB 2.0 port, you can - pretty much - have whatever 'external storage option(s)' you want. If you have the money to invest, you could try having an ext 80GB 2.5in drive otr, and an ext 500 (3.5in) indoors.

IIRC, you could use the USB on the device to power the 2.5in drive, although it'll drain the OQO dry in no time at all.

    Hope this helps.

BTW, If someone has one of these, try the Crysis demo, please, just to humour me... (See earlier posts...)

Hell - edit - why not try Doom too? See if it goes over 60fps... (Laughs.)
