| Re: Pacify Your PC - Part 3: Swapping out the CPU block Not meaning to be rude here Nick. But are you really that much of a hardware n00b ? I'd expect an element of this is down to watching to broadcast to the beginner all the way to the seasoned system builder. But some of those comments were cringe worthy. I mean, in your capacity of working at Hexus, i'm sure you would of come across various fan controllers (sorry Amps). Great Series, QuietPC is a great company, and their support and advice is second to none |

On the one hand, i don't want to offend Nick/anyone if they do actually not fully understand this. But in the other, it is slightly belittling to some of the target audience, who might expect alittle more direct discussion about the products and what's going on. |

| Re: Pacify Your PC - Part 3: Swapping out the CPU block Hi Sim0n, truth be told, I do know a bit more about hardware than the video shows but in the case of the fan controller, I did honestly think it was an amp having never been interested in external fan controllers and therefore not familiar with them... which is why I was giving myself a head-slap. What we're trying to do is aim the shows at both beginners and the more seasoned PC users, hence me asking questions that I think newcomers would ask. Yes, I sound like a complete n00b at times but if we're to get more people interested in PC tech, I thought it'd be good to see some basic questions being asked and answered. If you didn't like the amp reference, you're gonna hate the next show where we fit "metal-chilly-thingies to the make-my-pictures-go-fast-thingies." (joke ) |

| Re: Pacify Your PC - Part 3: Swapping out the CPU block Good show so far so keep it up with the useful tips especially the thermal paste, do you need to apply it differently for DHT(right?) coolers?(xigmatek etc) as they tend to have gaps inbetween the pipes and surface.I thought you were going to silence the PSU by other means than replacing, has this changed? because i recall you saying the scenario is that you cant afford a new PSU etc. Really interested in the PSU silencing because thats the loudest thing in my rig and my Xclio does prove the "bigger is better" theory wrong, its a 140mm fan and isnt quiet by any means as they put half a plastic shield underneath it to force air one side(FAIL, it bounces back) So anything to help fight that would be great .Will watch the next one. |
