C-150's satll at stupid low speeds... the older ones rattles like a greenhouse in a gale though.
They're a piece of the proverbial to fly, but fly looking OUT not by the AH and speed indicator... you'll have MUCH more fun. Ask the instrcutor if you can do the take off as those are dead easy... open the throttle, keep it straight with the rudder and pull back when the speed hits around 90-100 knots... check rate of climb is constant and airspeed is steady then bring up the first stage of flap and you're flying. Show the instructor you're really into it and not feely queasy, )unless you are of course) and he'll maybe even do a few aerobatics... nothing severe, just a few wing ovewrs, maybe a couple of chandelles, a push over the top.. which is a reet laff as you'll go weightless for a second or two... If it's an 150 Aerobat (fitted with flop tubes in the tanks) and he has the rating you can see if you can persuade him to roll it... and get him to do a stall if not a spin as these things are superb for it! Make sure you go sometime before spring matey, as the clear days are REALLY clear with little or no haze which is unavoidable in summer. btw, which airfield is it from, or is it a red letter day one? |

Hehe
OK Very cramped, you will struggle to believe when you sit in it that your instructor could possibly fit beside you. The dashboard will be simple, basic and in somewhat the same state of dis-repair as an A-reg Metro Ist thing you will notice is how slow it is, you'll be airborne at what seems like jogging speed, but believe you me it will come naturally the moment you take the controls, I practically flew the entire flight until a few secondf before touchdown. It was a little windy when I flew, so holding the plane straight and level was tricky as gusts of wind were tossing us up and down by 100ft, the altimeter was having a fit ! Most tricky was getting the right pressure on the rudder pedals, too little.. no response - too much - woooooaaahh ![]() Overall a lot of fun, I got the same present last year - btw, if its windy, don't have a full english brekky beforehand

Then again, from what I gather, I stand more chance of being rammed than dive bombed!

thinking of taking the old flying lessons myself - three to four thousand pounds can see you through to a licence. But then you need to put in at least an hour a month to keep it. Doesn't sound much, but at about 100 quid an hour ----- ouch!
tempting though - maybe one day give me a chipmunk any day
