Does anyone have any tips on the best rudder settings?
I did have my YAW settings at 0 Deadband, 0 Filtering. I've been finding that on take-off that any rudder adjustment, would set of a chain of adjustments, and counter adjustments, that would leave me swinging all over the runway like a caravan being towed down a motorway. ![]() I changed it to roughly 40 Deadband, 0.8 Filtering, and found this was worse. It was like having severe understeer on a sports car - and I ended up careering all over the airbase. ![]() I now have it at 20 Deadband, 0 Filtering. But am still not entirely satisfied. The profile is currently 10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90,100. Would changing this help at all? I have a twist grip joystick, and do all my rudder control using this. ![]() 'Make mine a Spitfire, Landlord!' |

Yep, change the profile, forget deadbanding and filtering, use the profile to create a deadbacnd...
Mine is roughly, (this is from memory as I'm at work right now) 0, 0, 10, 20, 20, 30, 50, 70, 100, 100 This gives me a nice area where I'm just giving a touch of rudder and then if I kick full rudder I know I've got full rudder as the top two bands are maxed. |

I've just set mine to 0, 0, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50, 70, 100, 100 and it makes a HUGE difference. Far less twitchy on take off, even in the twitchiest of plane.

I found that having a deadband (i.e. an area of joystick movement where no input was made to the game) helped me big time in all aspects of flight ( as my jostick appears to wobble around the centre rather spasmodically) yet was absolutely useless in combat.
I still needed the ability for fine adjustment when bringing my guns to bear on the weakes part of the oppo. I have now got mine set at 7,16,29,40,50,60,70,80,90,100 for all axis. THis means that the js is less sensitive to force in the near centre part of the spectrum... i.e I am less likely to get my crosshairs dancing over the screen at the slightest pressure of the stick. I find I am more able to control where the crosshairs are pointing in thos fine 10 degrees angle off situations Youve got to apply this principle to how you fly and how your joystick is currently behaving.
