    DX10 Company Of Heroes

Hi the new patch came out yesterday and I was wondering if anyone tried it?

    http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_coh_downloads.html

I tried it , looks nice , more shiny and the trees look nice , but when you start to max everything the game refuses to start.

I think it needs a another patch on top of this , this patch only gives you a little taster not that much change really

From what I hear of the dx10 and company of heroes. When you max everything out even if you have a highend gfx card, it seriously lags your computer... I'm just gonna wait till they have sorted everything out for COH before even thinking of reinstalling the game and applying the new patches.

Is DX10 available yet, cheacked on MS website and no sign. Could it hang high end systems as they've introduced to game program for it but it will still be running on DX9 which can't cope?

Should already be out I think.

Lost Planet can be DX10, and the results are much more impressive since it's designed to be a DX10 game, not a DX9 game thats been modded a bit to get DX10 features in.

DX10 is available and starts at around £60-80. It comes with a free copy of Windows Vista too

im hoping im just too stupid to see the sarcasm there....

got my copy of vista on the way from ebuyer for £40
quite looking forwards to coh in dx10 on my 8800gts as i play the game quite a fair bit with some friends online... Tho from the various screen shots ive seen i cant really see any difference.

looking forwards to the expansion pack too because that is looking pretty funky!

I played CoH in DX 9 under XP, switched to Vista and fully patched it before playing it again.

It looks better in my opinion however there is some unpleasantness. I can't see bullets or shells etc anymore, no matter what level the particle effects is on.

Oh and it stutters like crazy. This appears to be a bug. I noticed that the waving flags jump but then still wave quite briefly before jumping again. Lowering all the detail settings doesn't even impact it. I'm fully up to date with my drivers and am running a C2D 6600, 2GB RAM and an 8800GTS. I do worry whether Vista being 64 bit is having an effect but still, it shouldn't be running this poorly. It's unplayable.

    Edit:
Well, I uninstalled and reinstalled. I tried it before updating to 1.61 and again afterwards and in full detail there were no performance problems at all. I then jumped up to 1.7 and with the same detail settings (apart from the ones that can't be switched off like the 2d sprite clipping thing) it was still jerking like crazy. However if you drop it to Shader Model: High rather than Direct3D 10 it runs perfectly well so it's definitely not Vista 64 that's affecting it.

I don't think it's right to call this the first DX 10 game because it has obviously not been implemented correctly.

    Edit 2:
Okay, maybe I was a bit rash about saying it wasn't being implemented correctly: I just installed the Beta drivers from the nvidia website and performance has improved massively. I hope they can keep making strides like that with dx10 performance.

Nice spot lazy git, Have noticed with mine it tales about 3-4 mins to load after you click, 'hit any button' and then it takes another 5 minutes for the fps to go to norm, very glithy.
With graghics set the same as before the overall loading time before you can play with a normal fps is about 10 mins.
This is running on vista home premium 64 bit with system on the left. Might see if the beta drivers work before i go on it next.

    hi lazy,

im having the same problems as you in that i cant see any bullets or flames etc and its jerky as hell...

however im having issues finding beta drivers on the nvidia site, i have the normal drivers installed (158.24) and when i try to download the beta drivers it lists them as 158.18 which surely cant be right?

what revision are the beta drivers that you are usuing?

    ta...
