So where can I get a cheap copy of this game?
Don't really know much about flight sims (last one i played was harrier av8b - got it on floppy somewhere still
); but would quite like to have a go at this IL-2 malarky.2 questions: What spec machine do I need to run it (got XP2400+, 60GB, 1GB RAM, GeForce 4 graphics (can't remember how much memory it's got though) this is good enough isn't it? As the thread title suggests... where can I get a cheap copy of the game? |

You can pick up the original game 'IL-2 Sturmovik' for 7.50 GBP on Amazon.co.uk. But it really is worth shelling out the extra money for 'IL2 Forgotten Battles' (24.99 on Amazon).
The majority of the online action is with Forgotten Battles, and it offers alot more than the original game (more planes, more career missions etc). Also there is a planned add on for Forgotten Battles due out (later this year?). Your PC specs look fine. Make sure you have a joystick before you get the game though. You'll definitely need it

I got Forgotten Battles for £21.49 delivered from Game.
![]() Oh, and check out my spec... it's much worse than yours! Yet I still manage to fly online and shoot a few peeps down!
If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

a lot of people seem to recommend the Saitek Cyborg as being good value for money - see the review in the sticky thread
i use a logitech wingman with force feedback. I really like the force feedback and wouldn't be without, though at times it feels a little loose. I was going to dump the stick in favour of the X-45, which seems to be a favourite amongst many. But having tweeked the settings I've got it feeling right again ![]() 'Make mine a Spitfire, Landlord!' |
