NASA spent thousands of dollars and hours designing a pen that could write in space and stuff...

yeah, but there was a reason for the pen, as they were worried about graphite fragments from pencils getting in the sensitive electronics and damaging them, and seeing as you need gravity for normal pens to work, they had to invent the pressurised ink cart
