Smells like 'team' spirit...
Yes, yes, yes, Battlefield 2. I remember watching this game up to a year prior to its launch day.
Having had it on preorder from play.com for months and months I'd eagerly waste away the time to the launch day watching vdeos of gameplay and CGI and of course, videos of the developers touting it's team orientated slant. Excellent! I thought, finally I'll be able to enjoy a fresh and fulfilling online experience reminiscent of my old Delta Force 2 days on Novaworld where I'd team up with a couple of other sniper friends (all yanks, incidentally) and pick people off from miles away with our Barret Light .50s. Upon launch day, gameplay didn't even come into it as I watched the game fail to run, fail to connect to a server, get dropped from servers, getting kicked from servers by punkbuster, fail to run smoothly, fail to run at all; and then the fiasco where a patch would come out seemingly every week (not forgetting the infamous recalled patch), added to that, there was an issue with my PC at the time that caused the install for the pacthes to fail so I had to use alternative methods to install the patches with took days to figure out each, by the time it was figured out, a new patch was out. However, this isn't a thread about how buggy the game is, we all know how buggy it was in the early days, I got so fed up with it that I stopped playing it for about a year and now that I've come back to it, I've finally been able to enjoy it somewhat save for the trifling fact that there is simply no team work on most servers I play on, most people in squads lock them and don't invite people. From time to time, you can have a REALLY good experience with fellow medics, or assault troops or special ops and really doing a good job, but you know, I'd like that to be a regular thing as opposed to a lucky dip kind of system. It often amuses me watching about six medics lonewolfing it as if they're assault troops, lol, I however, stay within the ranks so in the likely event of casualties, I'm nearby to save the day even if i typically get mowed down after saving a few people... ...So I ask, seeing as I'm generally free at about 8pm onwards these days, is there anyone on here who is up for some BF2 in the evenings, or can people leave me some IP addresses for some good servers? Spafe, and spank y'all muchly in advance

Re: Smells like 'team' spirit...
When playing a new game online for the first few times, i'll identify a player doing well and stick to them.
Esentailly supporting them and covering thier back. I find it's a good tactic and about the best teamwork you can expect in shooters where nearly everyone doesn't have headsets. And on the 360 where everybody has headets, it's a different group of gamers and many just want to go off ond do their own thing. Most maps on the 360 for games are quite small aswell and you find that where people re-join from a sporn piont they are close to the action and have no intention of waiting. It can be different if your playing with friends though. |
