Re: Sat Night (6th Oct) may be Online 1946 night
Sunday Morning, review of last night, in the cold light of day:
Input required and expected guys. We still cant stick together if we take off from diff places, location is damnably hard. But we did improve. Comms were pretty good, and it wasn't noisy, or heavily over chatted, so gotta congratulate everyone on that. Dogfighting as a pair is, in my mind, bloody aweful, truly dire. We gotta try it all again. I still miss total sitters....absolute 100% guaranteed kills, that Hat or Dak or Luke313 would always get..I miss. I think my convergance is too far out. I'm getting realy close now...under 100 metres, and in a Spit with wing canons and MG's they are going either side of my target. Its why Ihit with Yak's a lot....centreline guns. No cross over. we MUST rely on our sense of speed and distance and NOT get confused over map positions....guys...we flew south for about 10 minutes, and then presumed we were on the east side of the map because it looked similar! Embarressed? I was. Gerrard...sorry we lost you on that mission...dunno where you were, but you MAY have BEEN where you thought you were...but we sure weren't! I think we need Rias to be booming and zooming more in that Tempest, cos she's good with that....but her turnfighting is less good in it, so missus, it might be Spitfire time for that kinda fighting. Soon as you start turning in a Tempest..you're toast. Nick, don't stop climbing when you're going to a dogfight...I saw you level and then diving too early a few times. Same for Gerrard really. Geist...excellent to see you online....it realy is a peasure to have an old hand back with us ![]() However, lots us did get home, many times and that is to be commended

Re: Sat Night (6th Oct) may be Online 1946 night
Still chuckling over one of my take off's though when Zak was holding position for me.
"Geist rolling - Zak where about?" *ZZZZOOOOOMMMM* "Roger" Those desert maps are hard maps to try and track people and that winter map with almost impossible with the cloud cover. I have to say I’ve always been bad at sticking together with others when the fights start. Not for lack of trying but I think I focus too much on one enemy and then when everyone’s dots, can’t tell who’s who. Flying as a wingman takes loads of practice to get it at a level where you’re not bounced yourself and can stick to your lead. But that would come again if we flew regularly with each other. Have to apologies for that bombing run. I took us south to avoid the main hot spots and when we hit the second water, should have turned east rather than continue. Although when we did find the target on my approach before popping up (had 3000lbs of bombs) took a single flak hit to my right wing with no warning and no other flak. ![]() I think we should try co-op's sometime, mixed bomber / fighter. That would get us into sticking together, multiple hight band fighter protection etc. Lots of things to think and practice on for next time though.

Re: Sat Night (6th Oct) may be Online 1946 night
It was good last night. The main problem I had was the comms going stuttering every now and again, which made it difficult for me to follow orders and stay together. Unfortunately, that's probably due to the connection and it's not going to get sorted for about 3 months.
Yeah, my navigation was pretty rubbish. Pretty certain I blew the crap out of the wrong train station! To be fair though, the terrain graphics were unusually blurry to find and follow railway lines. Not sure if that was just my end though as I was playing in windowed mode by then because of the TS problems. Dogfighting...didn't really happen. The only time I got into a good shooting position the mission ends! ID'ing aircraft as well proved to be a bit difficult. I wasn't the only though. Pretty certain other people were turing onto me before realising we were on the same side. Need to check my 6 more often. The amount of times I got caught out and lost a wing before I knew what was going on... Still pretty chuffed with my Top Gun move though! Didn't get a kill in the end, but didn't die either. Oh, and pretty annoyed there's no working fuel gauge in the Spit. Not much you can do when your knackered engine stops at 100 feet...
It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt; then it's bloody hilarious!

Well, my aileron controls were knackered on the first hit, and I wasn't going to shake him using rudder and elevators only; so it was more an act of desperation than anything calculated!

I probably won't be around tonight. I think I might be sociable and have to go to the pub all day and watch the sports. If I am around, I will probably be drunk by then, and there would be a lot of noise in my room as people play 4-way Pro Evo in it.
