    Just played a blinding session...

on IL2.. Warclouds WF server... tooled up in a JU-88 and killed in a variety of different ways:

2 ships - one dive bombed, the other level bombed from 3000 metres (lucky shot tbh)

    45 assorted artillery pieces

    8 tanks

    12 cars

Total points 948 That was after a 40 point penalty for damaging someone else's aircraft whilst taxiing

It was a good old night tbh- felt nice to back in the pilot's seat, and we won the map too

I'd love to get into the likes of IL2, but it would cripple my rig (AXP 3200+,6800,1.5gbRAM)

That and I've just bought a 360, so can't go back to PC gaming just yet...

THAT PC will run it JUST FINE

Tumble himself is running a Barton at 2.8 gig and has 1 gig or ram and a Radeon 9800 Pro.

And he flies like a ....... flying thing

So DONT use your PC as an excuse. We fly against LOADS of guys form Eastern Europe, and frankly, they have much lower spec PC;s....and they often kick our ass.

This game scales WELL...it was written (as DirectHex will tell you) long long long ago.

So....go buy 1946 (DVD) and it needs one patch...and you're in

well, its good to see someone back i the skies. We cant this weekend...the olds are visiting, but we;ve flown a fair bit over christmas, so will see you in the Big Blue soon.

Nice score chap.....better than I'd have made. Still struggle with any bombing unless it's in my IL-2 or it's rocket time in my Yak1

Im very tempted to join all this flying malarky, looks like great fun and an excuse to dig out my joystick, 1 question though, how steep is the learning curve?

    Online: Pretty vertical.
However, you can change realism settings whilst in single player to ease you in a bit more gently. Learn to fly first, which the basics are pretty straightforward. Dogfighting is probably the most difficult to learn. I personally prefer sticking with ground targets. Most are stationary so it's a more consistant training ground. Still haven't grasped level bombing yet though (trying to keep straight and level whilst looking through a bomb sight ain't easy).

I won't be going online until I get a phone line (4 months and counting and have now heard they've found absestos somewhere, so will probably be at least another 2 months ).

It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt; then it's bloody hilarious!

There's a little cheat thing called "level stabiliser" it flies the thing level for you you just have to keep on top of trim and airspeed. Leaves both hands free to manipulate the bomb sight.

Oh I forgot to add, I got 2 P51's and a Spitfire that thought it would be a good laugh to try and shoot at me as well

You have to love those bomb runs where the feedback text just cant keep up with all the stuff you've blown up

Even more satisfying though, taking out a group of 3 moving panzers with 2 FAB-100 from an I16

To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

Impressive.. you have to be a Jedi to do it though - even flying one of those coffins well is difficult
