It all looks familiar to me, finally got past the 1st A10 campaign mission last night...but got shot to bits more times than I care to remember . Still, I believe that is what they call a "learning curve"...

When using the mavs, you should get a lock at about 3.2nm from your target. Just get the reticule as close as you can, and when you get close enough it'll lock on by itself, hit the fire button, and then pull away fast.

Hmm, and I thought I was learning...

If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

Well, that ain't happening for me..... I must be doing something wrong coz when Lowe hosted for me I got a few good shots off, now I'm hitting a few things but getting shot down far too quickly!

You can get a lock from about 5nm but again, it's all about placing that reticule, getting decent height so you're looking down (ish) on the target, steadying the aircraft and waiting for a lock.

I'd hazard a guess Big_Al is flying too low, too slow, probably unsteady with the aircraft and slewing the reticule too quickly or he's targeting something at the back of a group of units and getting picked off by something closer.

edit - Doh - just seen Big_Al now hitting targets ok.

Gotta say, I'm feeling a whole lot better about LOMAC now, knowing that I'm not the only one struggling with the A-10 campaign!

Incidentally, if I don't make it this evening, are some of you guys online over the weekend, as I could deffo use some "tuition" in the ways of the warthog?

In that latest pic you've got hit by an missile, simply keep your distance and pick the bugger off from 4 - 5 nm. Also, if you are using your ECM - dont! Turn it on only when you're dangerously close to the launcher and he's locked you up. If you leave it on you're basically broadcasting your exact air position to all and sundry - bad news.

Final thing - keep your air speed up so you're travelling as fast as possible all the time - hard banking etc scrubs valuable speed and makes you too easy to hit.

There's one real hard bit on the A10 camp - where you fly south to the coast to pick off a line of moving T80's protected by Shilka's etc. Friggin nightmare.

I wont spoil it for anyone but if thats the one you guys are having trouble with - i'll just say use your wingman, as bait if necessary!

How do I know if I'm using it then?

And can anyone tell me what the numbers and letters in red mean, i.e. this one lauches rockets and this one is a tank and so forth. Then I can tell which is which as at the moment I don't have a clue what I'm shooting at unless I'm a few feet above it!

Dending on which Maverick you take you can get a decent lock from as far away as 9nm if you know what you're doing.

Always take IR Mavericks as first choice - they give you a zoom on the MFD and you're way more likely to get a lock. TV one's are OK as a desperate choice when you're trying to pick targets off which aren't going to fight back.. I.E after tanks in a built up area etc. Anything that's got a sting in the tail.. IR all the way baby

Look to your right hand panel and press the ecm on and off - you'll see a light turn green - green is on.

As for the weapon codes - read the instructions

LOL, the backup backup plan in my case. Wonder if there's any relationship between that and my "awesome" prowess on LOMAC.
