    Yeah - I had a bit of a lump in my throat when the village he was shot down in gave him a reception in the Town Hall.

    will do... i was amazed as well at the size of the Hurricane.... to think how manouverable it was in the air... it's blummin enourmous for a single seater

    agree there Tumble..first time I saw a Hurri up close it was MAMMOTH! The Spitfire is so much smaller

    And tbh the spitfire aint that small a plane. Glasgow transport museum has one thats been renovated at a cost of around 250k. It was in the glasgow squadron and it looks mint. Next time I'm over I'll take some photos and put them up. Just wish they'd let me sit in it. But I did get close enough to touch it.

    When I was in ATC I went to RAF Leeming and they had a Spit there as the gate guard, I musta spent about 2 rolls of film taking shots of it...
