Looking good, better than HAWX if I'm honest, how much are they cutting realism wise though?

Everythng points towards it being a very accurate representation of the PC version, Arcade and Simulation modes are available, and the Simulation mode is reportedly very much designed for the hardcore crowd

Cool, consoles need something a little more hardcore in my opinion I put HAWX on elite mode when I picked it up and it hasn't presented any real challenge yet

Time to start looking for a joystick for the 360...

Looks fantastic, and the news of a simulation mode is good, but one thing still deters me from it; the controllers. Let me plug my X52 in and then I'd consider it. I also can't see how they can have a proper PC type simulation with the limited amount of buttons on a controller anyway.

    Re: IL2 Birds of Prey - Xbox/PS3

The Spitfire had a hole in the wing, and the ground was visible through it... but we had that 7 years ago in IL-2 didn't we?

I like to see Cliffs.. so THATS good... but WHERE are the cockpit shots? What about headmovement in-cockpit? Tracking the target? Head position in relation to gunsight?

I HATE to be a fly in the ointment of enthusiasm, but we have ALL of this already.

IL-2 the NEW version needs> accurate 3d sound portrayal, DirectX10 compatability, multi core support, and NEEDS to be supported on ONE format. Because without that, it'll be diluted and lose it's longevity of online support. Of course, this will NEVER happen, so we'll all have to wait to see WHICH frmat it is best supported on.. and buy one of those!

every IL-2 server right now is voluntary. It's ALL done privately by people who CARE.

But they HAVE to be into PC's to do it.
If it goes PC AND XBox, AND PS3... how will it survive online for another 7 or 8 years? It won't

I fear for it's Online Social Liveliehood

From what I read last night it looks like you are locked to cockpit only with head movement if you turn the sim mode on, it takes the hud away from you as well which I like. I think it's gonna hit a different audience on consoles to be fair, more the crowd that buys blazing angels and ace combat games not so hardcore flight sim players. The hardcore audience will be there for some time yet because as you say if you've got a PC you've got everything this has to offer and you've more than likely invested in a joystick at least if not pedals etc.

It's not bad, it is supremely easy though and some of the gimmicks like ERS are more a hinderence than the helping hand they intended at times. Having said that it does succeed where Namco have been failing with the Ace Combat series for quite some time by having a story that doesn't make you want to rip your eyes out with boredom.

I don't disagree with any of this chap, but this is a big step forward for the simulation market, hell if they can get a realistic sim with a huge following behind it on a console, this breathes life into an almost extinct genre, graphically (to my eyes anyway) it looks a big improvement on anything the PC version has done so far, but the real test is how it works with multiplayer.

Speaking from my own point of view I fell off the PC gaming bandwagon years ago, I blinked and before I knew it my whole rig was completely out-dated and unable to run the latest releases - I don't get that with my Xbox , but I do miss the sim games - this is what I've been waiting for.

I guess we just don't know until we see it and play it, could be immense, could be a stinker, but deep down I have a really good feeling about this
