Will all Long Term IL-2 ers please......
......tell Rias that as a new pilot, she's asking too much of herself.
Dak had to do this for me.....for me he said "Zak old chap, don't be so hard on yourself" and I'm not getting involved in this bit......Rias is another pilot suffering the nightmare of trying to get better too quickly.... so ignoring her being anything to do with me......can you all tell this new pilot that to even survive a few dogfight servers is a miracle after lass than 1 month and only playing once or twice a week. Tumble....you heard me whinge like a tart un-ceasingly for ....well....I still do ![]() Deckard had to calm me, Skii taught me by PM and email, Trig just shot me more to make me realise, Hat worked his arse off alongside Dak to get me airborn, TiG accelerated up to me in a few weeks and will (soon as ADSL arrives) be up there.... Luke learned from me and then went all out to be a very good pilot indeed......but its taken the combined time of 10's of thousands of hours. So someone tell her to stop feeling like sh1t after a 3 hour dogfight....I used too....still do sometimes......and it does a pilot no good. Last but not least.....just so you know....she's never used externals cos I'm a git and wouldnt show her....

well tbh matey... she looked like she was doing ok for the short time I was on last night. I didn't get home once after mixing it...
Rias.. you doing good missus - just keep at it and all of a sudden you'll have run out of ammo having shot down your fouth plane and be on your final approach before you realise it. the key is to learn to fly before you learn to shoot, and then learn everything again until it's automatic. Just takes time like anything else. Good show!

Hehe, Zak is quite right, the one thing i think myself and zak have learnt is speed and height is life, i may not be able to kill someone particularly well but if i enter combat on my terms i don't often die. WWII aces' from reading some of the pages skii provides shows Kills in maybe 1 in 3 missions if they are ACES!.
That to me shows exactly what you must do, and that is stay alive, if you get on someone's tail and get a few shots off, if they go into a tail spin loose speed etc, it is not necessarily a good idea to follow them in, regain height, watch where they are with their lower speed and come back in from another pass. I've found as i'm sure Zak will agree staying alive is actually quite enjoyable, and when i went over a flew with him a week or so back, damn he made it hard for me to kill him, and was pretty much an intense 10minute period before we both fried the hell out of our engines. From memory your flying wasn't bad Rias (hehe) picked up the whole take off thing pretty well from memory, and i doubt its particularly going to be your flying that is letting you down, its going to be tactical awareness and knowning what to do with the aircraft at what time that will really count, and believe me that only comes with practise!. Think its only some 2 and a bit weeks left to Broadband ![]() TiG

Its hard for everyone to start with, even the best pilots are still learning. From what i remember you fly really well for the amount of time you've been learning, i couldn't fly on a full real sever after a months flying, it took me ages to get there. As Skii says, the dudes in hl have been flying for years they know every plane like they're own living room and they know all the weaknesses of what ever your flying. Just gotta keep trying and eventually you'll be one of them

its the same as anything Sair, u gotta stick with it, it took me 4 years playing Counter-Strike for example and im probably just scraping top 20 UK
![]() IL2 is much much harder than CS htough, just stick with it, read into how planes work, makes it easier. |

^^^What all these have just said, PLUS: -
It helps if you record what you do - especially online. I'm betting Zak either got you to record (So both of you could see where you were aiming from inside your cockpit) or recorded himself (To see if/what mistakes you did/didn't make) It is really difficult to start off with in FB - especially online against some of these guys in HL (Trust me, I spend wayyyyy too much time in there )I've got 2 tracks from last night - 1 short one when I'm dogfighting Rias in 153's, and another huuuge one (30 minutes was what I watched to, got bored with counting all the planes I had shot down ) I'll upload them to my webspace if yer need em. I've found out with you were stalling the 153 though - rockets Don't need em unless you're heinkel busting or going after tanks etc ![]() From watching the tracks its easy to see that you fly pretty darn well - but twisting into an oppurtunity to shoot somebody down is damned hard. You were NEARLY there a LOAD of times - it just takes practise to not get nervous when you ARE there and to not fire too early. On the other hand, you could just sit on Zak's six at 0.06km and pi$$ him off well and truly for 5 minutes
