I think that's a lot of assumptions... Just because you can't see them, does not mean they can't see you. Also, obvious hiding spots are often targeted with blind shots.

And I don't understand why you think you need to spend cash! I don't! Saying that, there's no denying it makes progression easier!

    Absolutely.
It’s an awesome game. I often play it when I get free.

I've played it a bit ages ago and I really enjoyed it, I've seen from TV adverts that there is a World of Warplanes too which I may have to check out

I really enjoy this game but have found that being in a clan and having people to join you in games certainly makes the grind easier.

It does get to a point that you ask "is this worth it ?" somedays no then otherdays it is.

The need to remove gold ammo tbh from the game.

    Re: World of Tanks

It's nice that there isn't anything that gives an in-battle bonus that can only be purchased for real money, but making gold ammo more common has really messed up the balance for vehicles with more armour.

    Re: World of Tanks

I've recently dusted off my tanks and have been playing a bit,
seeing as I started in beta then left around update 7.5 or 8.0

I'm amazingly rusty and the meta has changed a lot since back then, it means I'm almost having to re-learn to play.

It used to be about camo and spotting (still is to a degree, but not as much), with some poking and hiding behind rocks/houses.

While poking and side scraping are still there, changes to the maps and destruction of cover make the ground itself more important, it's a lot of hiding behind rises and undulations in the ground, poking up to take a shot and ducking back down.
Where the meta game used to favour heavies and arty, it's now more focused to mediums using speed to dodge behind terrain and speed aiming.

One thing to note is that the rewards for your team winning/losing have been greatly increased, in the past I think it was a 20% bonus to xp and credits for being on the winning team, now the base rate was reduced and winning is a 50% bonus.

The focus people had on getting the most kills seems to have shifted to doing the most total damage, I think xp used to be based on damage + killing shots now it's just damage (ok there are other things too, but the majority comes from damage)
So people want to win but are still playing for individual damage caused.

Not sure if I like the changes or not.

    Re: World of Tanks

World of corridors has definately helped havies. Sniping has been killed due to the undulations. Accuracy nerf for arty has put people off playing it (definitely don't play if you have packet loss).

Philosophy has changed, XVM is widespread. kills and damage mean better stats. Its always been about the damage though. More horrible players have top tier tanks. More abusive! I've even been called a haker and a looser.

If you want some company send me an invite; it'll be like old times .

    Re: World of Tanks

XVM stats kind of put me off because people that use it just moan at my overall rating. When it used WN7 it wasn’t as bad as it showed me as an average player but when they changed to WN8 my rating was put down to 635 which is way below average apparently.

    Re: World of Tanks

635 is very low but it is also proportional to how many games you've played (I ignore up to about 10k), premium account (less time on stock tanks and more money=better equipment. But now at tier ll?) and what tanks you've played. The ideal metric will remove your best and worst tank's stats or those you've played most and least.

I found the cruiser ll a couple of weeks ago and am 'fascinated' by it. The fact you can shoot over small objects, the exceptionally long aim time, inability to blind fire.... Anyway the number of 2.5k battle seal clubbers with 2.45k battles in the cruiser lll is absurd. Very average 20k players with 2k games in the t18 are funny.

    Re: World of Tanks

Must admit I'm using the quickybaby modpack which has XVM as part of it, however I don't have an XVM account (on purpose) so that part of it doesn't work for me, I want it more for the additional map info, showing render distance, view distance and last known enemy position is very helpful.
Along with a slightly greater max camera distance, load time shown in seconds and tier numbers of both teams on screen (so many new tanks I don't recognise the silhouettes of)

The changes to arty have made it a lot harder for arty, you don't rack up any where near the damage levels you used to (at least at low tier) not that that's a bad thing, I remember when you'd get 6 to 8 arty on each team.
One thing I will note is that crew skill has a massive impact on arty, they've fallen into the % multiplier trap, it seems the aim time and circle have a multiplied penalty, ie a 75% crew give you a 125% aim time and dispersion, so as arty tend to have around double the dispersion (eg M37 0.8 vs M3 Lee 0.4) and double or more the aim time (eg M37 5 vs M3 Lee 2.1) which means having an arty crew at 75% is like having a normal tank crew at 50%
I spent some of my gold (still have some left from my beta preorder pack) on my new tier4 french arty the change from an 80% crew to 100% was very noticeable.

There's a lot more lights about now and light tanks have changed from passive scouting to more active scouting, bit annoying because I used to be a decent passive scout, I'm struggling a bit mainly because of the new maps I don't know and reworks of the old maps so the locations I'd hide in have ether gone or no longer have clear fields of view.
