Got some stick?
A thread all about joysticks.
I have a Saitek X45 throttle and stick combo. Its got enough buttons to make even a real F-22 pilot develop a stammer. This stick has over 150 different possible button combinations, meaning you'll never have to touch the keyboard again. I currently have mine set up for dogfighting, but with a flick of the mode switch I can pilot a four engined bomber, and another flick lets me man and adjust the bombsight, all of which need a whole load of keys on top of the normal piloting ones. Its a well built combo with a pretty stiff spring on the stick, fine for ham fisted jittery pilots like me. Its USB and the programing is simple point and click, though I have heard of people having problems getting it to install. You have to follow the instructions TO THE LETTER! All in all its a damn fine stick, though it lacks FFB, but that doesn't really bother me. |

Knox's Saitek Cyborg 3d Platinum Review
TWIST axis 10 buttons 8-way hat switch Lever throttle Shift function Full programmability via SGE Totally adjustable for left- and right-handers Single-spring mechanism Brilliant stick, when i took it out of the box i looked at it and went "wtf is that" 10 minutes of adjustments later and it was PERFECT fitted my hand beautifully. Its obscenely adjustable, quite responsive in il-2 and fb, my only problem is with the throttle, the last 1% you have to push for for some reason, may just be my stick. Nice customisable buttons and enough for what i wanted from it padlock enemy, gear , boost wep and the all important bail out. Its lack of force feedback may be an issue for some, but i find it better as ffb can be distracting in some games imo. Its also quite durable, its been in several meeting with the floor and works perfectly afterwards (i don't advise testing this feature though ) In conclusion lovely stick, would reccomend to anyone who doesn't want force feedback and is on a bit of a budget. the best and only £29.99 i've ever spent in p.c world . |

Just got the Cyborg 3D Gold, and it seems to be a minor update of the platinum, well, a golden stick rather than a silvery one..
My question.. what works best config-wise for IL2? Oh, and what the heck do you use the hat for?

Oh, and anyone with a cyborg 3d, how the hell do you trim it? I've calibrated it etc, but I've still got a slight roll and a bit of climb when the stick is centered, any ideas?

you will pitch upwards slightly cos your gaining speed, therefor pushing the air faster over the wings generating lift, and the roll to thr right is cuased by the direction the engine spins, so you need to set a key for it, and trim them ingame

Ta peeps, I didn't realise that there was a trim function in the game itself, hence the puzzlement when I couldn't find any adjusters on the stick itself

I've actually setup the trim controls so I don't have to press shift or ctrl to activate it - just plain old up/down left/right and z or x for rudder, unless I'm setting neutral trim in which case I'll hold shift down. I'm trying to make the necessary keypresses that are used a lot as simple as possible - all my engine select controls are on the F keys, cos I hardly use any other veiws than F2 or F1. Still trying to optimaise it tho - one key - one function all that jazz.

just so you all know what I use.....cos it MIGHT help....might
![]() Page upand Page down for Prop Pitch upand down Home and End for Supercharger up and down Insert and Delete for Mixture up and down Then a sticky label under it to remind me ![]() Cos there are TOO many weapons I use the Bomb or Torpedo as Cntrl and Space bar together....easy to find BUT impossible to do by accident And just plain old Space bar alone for Landing Lights on/off so Trigster can find me quicker

Back too subject my joystick is a good old Sidewinder Precision 2, I've had it two years since I got my 1st home pc and bought B17 - The mighty 8th. Anyone recommend a good force feed back joystick? Preferably with decent throttle control. |

aircraft with 2 or more engines don't suffer from this as multiple engines cancel each other out.
