better frames rates with Java(TM) Standard Edition 1.4.2_06
ok a team mate was told this
install Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition 1.4.2_06. i asked him why and he replied: its a programming language specifically one that FB+AEP+PF is written in, you just updated your version of the software. so i tried and i must say never been able get perfect water and still have a reasonable ( 20-40) frame rate. see for yourself http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html gl JaVA the Mother of Idiots is always pregnant...

I thought everyone had upgrade to the _PROPER_ Java runtime environment since Microsoft lost the lawsuit Sun microsystems bought against it? No? Get with the times

I know the entire IL-2 frontend is written in Java, this includes the ingame chat, map, radio messages etc, other portions may be written in Java too. But still, no matter what, everyone should get the proper Java runtime environment from java.sun.com or java.com.

You mean what do with the JRE? Download and install it. Microsoft can no longer bundle it's own JRE with Windows. If anything it will protect you from any holes in previous runtimes that hackers could use.

Zak for your benefit, Java works as a computer independent language, so what you get is a set of code that is not compiled. What happens is when it runs on your machine it actually does the last bit of compilation to make it run.
Generally most machines have Microsoft's compiler for java on it, but Sun who really do make the best Java compiler by far will require an install. Java is no way spyware, its a superb product, and one i spent 3yrs at Uni writing software in. back in JDK 1.2.x days. Need more explination just yell, could go on for hours as this is just a general high level overview ![]() TiG
