    IL-2 Screenies (56k Unfriendly)

Just had a very very quick dabble in a quick gen, campaign and a track, i'm very impressed so far, but bloody hell some of the campaign missions make you fly bloomin miles, over nothing but blue blue water water... water. Still, that is the way it was.

Got some screenies from a 'Clinginatored USS Lexington' carrier - after Me, Clingy and TiG had had a go at it for a good hour with various loadout's (WTF is a TinyTim?? ), Clingy sunk him with a torpedo from a Beaufighter

Not quite as good settings, but I doubt those screenies were live and he was hosting at the same time...

I don' know what's goin on with mine tbh.
9800pro.. 1GB ram... and EVERY time I see a blummin carrier it goes slideshow on me even in less than perfect mode.
    everything else is fine.
it's the ships... anyone know if there's a tweak you can turn the ship detail down on??

Only object detail as a whole - but then you lose the fine aircraft detail also

I dont have a problem with it, but its true, somewhere in the readme it says you can turn the 3D person models in vehicles off as it can really eat up resources, can't remember how its done, altering a .cfg file somewhere I think.

Which GFX Card do you have mate? and which res+settings do you play at?

If I run things too high my 9800SE Softmod gets a little too warm and so I get artifacts

Is there a tweak app similar to LoMan for I-L2? As that worked wonders for keep the eye candy tasty but reduced the abuse your machine (and fps) takes

Gunners are off by default but you can turn them on and suffer a massive frame rate hit.... so my manual says, so you weren't dreaming it, Trig.

But I don't think that IL2 is all that good at drawing complex 3D models, either that or the code needs optimizing. When I'm near the carriers the frame rates ok, but when they let loose with flak and MGs I might as well go and a make a cuppa while the next frame loads.

Managed once to start a take off from a carrier whilst under attack... the game slowed up and the next screen update had me in the drink...

I'm running a 2400XP with 1gig and a 9800XT so it shouldnt find it that hard....

    Where's the iceberg?

If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

Just read the readme ( In know.. the shame.....) and apparently the recommended driver version is the 4.1 Cats.... gonna try it and report back..

    Turn the gunners on guys

the 3d hit is minimal, In fact I don't even notice it

open your conf.ini file and add the line

    3dgunners=1

    in the [Game] section

    sorted

Also if you are running this in perfect mode, change the water value to 0 , it still looks the dogs but much less choppy than 1.
