Yep, as Trig says. Check which patch you need, all three verson to upgrade from different versions of FB are there.

If you don't know your version number, its dipslayed in the bottom left hand corner of the screen as the game loads.

I think I found a bug in that patch.. they seem to have broken the hurricane c revision, if you invert her and go into an inverse dive (so you go back lower and in the opposite direction), it results in an immediate stall and flat spin, which even if you recover from seems to linger had get you again even if you only invert.. most odd..

I *think* that's actually supposed to happen. Do you mean the engine stalls?

Hurricanes had a carburettor instead of fuel injection and their engines would cut in negative G inverted manouvers, so you could be experiencing a loss of power which could cause a flat spin in that move.

    Anyone else got any ideas?

dunno, but the IIc is deffo fuel injected...... maybe they're just not so hot inverted. I know they had trouble pulling out of high speed dives in the first incarnation of the game

the hurricanes design ment went it flew inverted for a longer than short (that make sense?) amount of time, the engine would be starved of fuel, cuasing a stall. iirc ;x

I can stall anything.....except maybe an empty Boeing 747 400...so that Hurricane thing has always happened to me

Surely you shouldn't get such a severe effect though, it's fine being inverted for a little while (loops are fine etc), and it's fine when you first invert - it's as soon as you start the inverted dive that you get a really bizarre & violent spinning stall.

It's quite hard to explain, next time there's a server up I'll show you

Hmm, it definately feels like a bug now, I couldn't get it to do it for ages, then it did it on a normal banking turn??

I've saved a track file if that helps?

loops would be fine, centrifugal force holds you in the loop and keep the carb operating normally. Negative G in an inverted dive would cause a problem straight off. With no power at high angle of attack, the the hurri will stall, and then stall more as gravity takes over...

Lets ahve a look in a server tho. If you're around tonight I'll get one up for about 9 ish, hows that sound?

The manouver reffered too, inverting then going into an inverse dive was used in non fuel injected planes as it creates positive g, as once you are inverted you are pulling back on the stick too lose altitude rather than pushing forward.

I don't think you do get the negative G effects in plain old IL2.. I can't remember - the only plane you'd get it on in that would be the I-16 if anything. No Hurri's or Chaikas in original IL2..
