    If ever....

....there needed to be evidence that some people take this game (IL2 series) a tad too far ~

Some people have far too much spare time. Does look nice though.

That is too sad. I been playing IL2 recently and I was wondering when there will be a new game out like IL3 that will use a more up to date graphics and sound engine.

IL2 actually refers to an aircraft in the game... it's a flying tank. And I love it.

Groundpounding goodness indeed, although the A20 does come close for the sheer fun!

    bless ya

The IL2 Sturmovik was the plane and game that kicked the whole thing off!

Then came IL2: Forgotten Battles (an uprated version, very different) and Aces Expansion Pack, and now Pacific Fighters (all add on to one another like computer lego).

Currently graphics are very adjustable to suit your machine. I run a 9800 pro, and it gives Excellent settings smoothly, and Perfect settings with some juddering (but the water looks awesome - especially when flying over coral reefs). I recently got a Audigy sound card, and despite teething problems my sound has been pretty awesome with IL2 ever since - didn't know what I was missing with my old card.

The maddox team are working on a Battle of Britain flight sim which promises to have updated flight modelling, graphics, weather systems etc etc - time will tell.

I'm not sure if there ever was an IL-3, though there was an IL-4 - maybe not an interesting enough a plane to base a sim on though
